christmas present for the disk jockey

my boyfriend is quite the vinyl collector. i'm not even going too touch on getting him records because he will probably already own it.

what's a nice, yet not too pricey accessory that i can get him for his birthday/xmas present?

he said something about this spotlight of some sort that clips on to the mixer too add some lighting that he was interested in. what and where do i get this thing he speaks of?
he needs some form of proper storage as well. right now his records are all standing upright on the floor leaning agaisn't speakers and crates surrounding his chair and decks. it's a pain in the ass too look through and too move. are bookcases or shelving good enough?

where should i go looking for this sort of stuff?

you can call a carpenter and get something installed in the wall. so that he can sort out all his records, like a 3 by 3, with nine compartments. wont cost too much. and it looks cool too.

hehe i have had this same dilemma many a time over the past couple of years...

- dj equipment, and vinyl, is a pretty personal choice thing, so an easy way around that would be a gift voucher for a record store - then they can buy records or whatever
- you could get a some cool slipmats for his decks
- a road case for his records (i think that's what it would be called) - they can be stored in this at home, and then easy to transport if he's spinning somewhere - kinda like a crate or special padded bag thingy on wheels
- you could get some accessories that he wouldn't normally buy for himself, like if he wants to produce you could get a microphone or a sampler or something
- monitor speakers are good to have, but kinda pricey too
- pair of good headphones
- we found a really sweet stand at IKEA in the as is section - it wasn't supposed to be a DJ stand obviously, but works great, so you might find some storage things there

you should be able to find most of this stuff at any good record store, or online

hope that helps :) good luck
