You can record with Logic. What kind of soundcard do you have?
Working with virtual instruments & midi in Logic is awesome. But the audio editing is weak compared to Pro Tools. That's why I was wondering what sound card you had...because you could always buy an Mbox or Digi 002 (and Pro Tools also works with M-Audio soundcards). It comes with the software. But if you already have a soundcard I would recommend Logic because it comes with a lot of soft synths to get you started. And third party products (like native instruments) runs rock solid. I can't say the same with Pro Tools. I also use Bias Peak as well as Ableton Live (works great with Logic & Pro Tools). |

i see your logic, but dont really care. as i said i just droped lotsa cash in the studio, and i cant realy say ill push hard enough to get stuff pressed, as i said if it happens, it happens, then ill use the money from that to buy new software...but i highly doubt that will happen and revolver, im way past fruityloops and acid FYI. i didnt spent 5 large to play on fruityloops. |

limewire.
I did a quick search and you can grab a recent version of Logic. It's not going to do you much good untill you get a decent sound card/interface though, like Myshell mentioned, but play with samples to start as there'll be a hefty learning curve anyway. I'm all for try before you buy, but if you use the program frequently then pay the bux. These are the guys that make the gear we need! |

revlover - i have a power MAC G5, (2) 8" sewien studio monitors, a 19" plasma screen, and a tascam interface. and a swanky desk that is pimp! all toatllying just over 5000. and fruitylopps was soo 1999 for me lol |

I've never heard of sewien monitors.
I dunno - I used Logic for a few years, but I find Ableton Live to be way more intuitive and musical. I'm a very, very technical guy, but when it comes to music I want the quickest and most creative path from an idea in my head to a sound coming out my monitors, and that's Ableton Live for me. Logic definitely has a lot more MIDI control, but the WAV editing is utter ass IMHO (that being said, I haven't seen the WAV editing in Logic 7 yet). If you haven't used Logic before, expect a long learning curve. For me, it was almost six months from the first time I opened Logic until the first finished track... with Ableton Live, it was *three days*. |

Its not the sequencer, its the producer. I know tons of people who use fruity loops and can absolutely rape with it. So theres nothing wrong with FL, as long as you know how to use it.
Look into Cubase SX3 , new Mac version out that is pretty killer. (www.steinberg.com) |

Ableton Live is a wicked sequencer, perfect for electronica specifically. So easy to write and mix in. It cuts out the annoying learning curve of progs like Logic by simplifying unecessarily complicated workflow. things like cutting loops writing and automation are a breeze as well the freeze track function is very usefull for saving CPU and bouncing down tracks with multiple heavy Vsts. Highly recommended try it out soon! youll be glad you did.
