thailand and drugs
Alright, I'm heading to thailand in 3 weeks to bake on the beach and hit up a full moon party.
Like everyone else I have heard that thailand has lots of drugs. but I have also heard that the cops are nuts and the penalties are crazy. anyone been there? More specifically a full moon party. If so could you let me know what your expereience was like and if you ran into any drugs. thanks |

i was there last summer..it was insane to say the least. about 8000 people crammed onto a beach, will about 8 or so diff clubs throwing out loud fucking tunes.
go to the bungalows on the south end of haad rin, up on the hill. if they arnt in jail, you will find some isreali guys more then willing to sell you whatever you like. i was simply walking down a path on the day of the FMP and some dude on a scooter stopped and asked me. also, there should be other isreali guys walking around on the beach trying to sell shit. i recommend showing up a bit early and asking around at the clubs. same kinda thing as here....the dj's(if you can call them that) know where to find drugs. whatever you do though, do not buy from the thai's. ever. they will fuck you over. pm me if you want more info, i like to talk about it.:) |

I was in Thailand in March and found out quite a bit about the drug scene there from a guy I met who had spent the past 9 years in different areas of Thailand. This guy had some stories that made me figure that it was not worth it to even go near drugs there. Call me paranoid, but I was happy with the cheap Chang beer and the buckets of red bull and vodka. And believe me, I got into enough trouble with just booze.
This guy I met was a 47 year old dude from England. He had spent the last 20 or so years of his life traveling, making money DJing, juggling and fire twirling. He left England and started traveling because he was put in jail for possession of marijuana charges. After he got out of jail he went traveling because he didn't want to live in a society that wouldn't accept him because of his jail time for drug possession. When I met him he was on his way back to Ko Phan Ngan (the full moon party island) to sell his records because he had bought final scratch. With the amount that he traveled he didn't want to lug around a huge record bag anymore. He told me the story of why he hadn't been back to Ko Phan Ngan for 5 years. He said that he was asked by a guy he knew to pick up 13 caps of E for him. This was not a Thai guy and he knew him as an acquaintance. He picked up the E for the guy and immediately after he got it, cops arrested him. The guy had set him up, which he believed was arranged with the cops because this guy had been caught with something and the cops made a deal with him to catch someone else. So this guy I met was in Thai prison in Surat Tani (mainland Thailand nearest to Ko Phan Ngan) for 2 days without knowing anything... no one spoke to him in English and he had no idea how long he would be there for. He was then told he had to raise 100,000 bhat bail (which is about $2000). It took him 8 days to raise this by calling friends and relatives around the world. During this time he sat in Thai prison. Not once was he asked for ID, his passport or anything and all the paperwork was done on a typewriter. The cops could care less about keeping this guy. All they wanted was the money for the bail. Once he had raised the money, they gave him 2000 baht back and told him to leave and not come back. This was 5 years ago from when I had met him, and we were both on a boat back to Kho Phan Ngan. He was pretty sketched out about going back there, but he figured it was the only place where he could sell his records and that no one would recognize him after 5 years. Even after all this, he was still doing drugs in Thailand. He offered me opium for free on the boat, which I declined, cause his story sure did open my eyes. We did a lot of talking about drugs and after I mentioned my opinion that all drugs should be legalized, he gave me a book called 'Living With Drugs' that shared that view. He was impressed cause I was the first person he had met to share a lot of his opinions on drugs. When we got to the island at 6am an bartender there recognized him instantly which scared him a lot, but he did end up selling his records and left Ko Phan Ngan safely. After seeing and hearing all this I decided to steer clear of drugs for the rest of my trip. Which was a good thing too cause I was sitting on the Full Moon beach having a beer at a club and a guy came up to me asking if I wanted to buy Ecstasy. I seriously considered it, then said no. I was lucky I did this too cause right after I declined the guy who offered it to me walked right up to two guys in uniforms and started talking to them. The drug scene in Thailand is really prevalent, but you have to be careful because a lot of the cops could care less about arresting you, but they just want your money to raise their funds. |
