Anyone addicted to Otrivin?
This should be an interesting topic.
But I was just curious if anyone besides me has a problem with nose spray..being that I cannot breath without this stuff. Due to many other problems...such as a bad car accident 4 years ago and has fractured my nose...making my breathing worse. But I'll wake up in the middle of the night...and I cannot get a pinch of air through my nose. Not because Im all snotted up..but be/cause my nose has like... swollen. So my question is...does anyone else have to use this? |

OMG....thats so wierd...I didn't think anyone else had this problem.... i've had to take nose drops every day since grade 9(i'm in grade 12 now)...i used to take Otrivin, but I like the no name London Drugs brand better...
You're right, I can't sleep without them, I used to have to take them twice a day cuz it would be hard 4 me to breathe properly during the day too but now I just need them at night... I think i used them for about a week when I had a cold and i've used them ever since..if i don't take them i can't sleep, i keep waking up and arg...it used to be frustrating but i'm used to it know. It's like brushing my teeth, it's a routine now. :049: Wierd..i didn't think anyone else had this problem!! |

i was like that for so long
my nose would make itself snuffy when i wasnt sick so id take it every night - and somethimes in the mornings before working out then my mum figured out where all the spray was going and she took it away its an addiction and as soon as you stop taking it you arent snuffy at all |

i usually use the pediatrition otravin because it isnt as harsh on the nose insides... and it isnt as addictive, but this also kinda means it isnt as strong. if you got a baaad addiction, i say switch to the pediatrition kind then slowly take yourself off. having a stuffy nose is hell, no one likes it.
but the nose swelling thing doesnt sound right, and if it is just swelling then take a coupl of anti-inflamatories before you go to bed and they will prevent the swelling. |

i used to be soooo hooked on that stuph a couple years back, it was hard to quit, haha it sounds like some crazy drug, builds a dependency though, gets annoying having to chew with your mouth open becuase you cant breathe any other way, not to pretty either

otrivin and any spray medicines are SUPER bad for your sinuses. If you use them more than a few days then you get rebound inflammation. This is when your sinuses swell more than they did before you used it.
http://www.virtualrespiratorycentre....sp?drugid=1347 Rebound congestion with prolonged use (4-5 days). Rebound congestion is associated with overuse and may take several weeks to reverse. Put it down. take some ibuprofen and suck it up. |
