We make regular large donations to the SPCA and Salvation Army. And I do this for a living. Thanks :)

No no, I sell clothes for a living. Not nessasarily mine. Listen, we've given 100's of dollars in clothing this month (and easily over $1000 worth this year) to charity. I'm not sure where you got 'money grubbing' from considering you have no idea who we are. So please don't judge before you know, that's all I'm asking.

^ haha, wow.
And some of us sell our "used" clothing because it is not really used. Sorry, there is no fucking way in hell I am donating a $500 down-filled parka that has been worn twice, to charity. That's pointless. People who rely on charities need the basics like food, not my designer merchandise. |

and galaxie, thats a pretty fucking selfish comment that you made.If you sell your own clothes, thats tacky as fuck.Wether its brand spanking new or worn more then a few times. If you cant afford to buy designer clothes...then dont fucking buy them.If you can afford to buy them, give them away when youre done with them. Not sell them.Ever heard of being selfless?guess not. and firestar my apologies,i didnt know that you sold hot shit out the back of a truck.A boys gotta eat. |

There is nothing wrong with consigning clothing that you have paid good money for. |

Since you are calling everyone out for being selfish, what was the last thing you did to donate your clothing or money? |

So, Ragga, by your standards, it would also be wrong to sell a used TV, used sofa, etc? And, I guess no one should ever sell their car! Send it straight to the wrecker! |
|

NO NO NATALIE, GIVE IT TO CHARITY, OTHERWISE YOU ARE A SELFISH BASTARD!

and for used furniture, yes by all means its tacky to sell it.Give it away to people that really need it.Like refugees,or just landed immigrants.Maybe abused women and their children? And to compare a vehicle to clothing is ridiculous.c`mon kids. The only people that give away cars is bob barker and oprah. Straight up,if you cant afford to buy it and give it away youre a sucker and therefore you suck. my word is all knowing and absolute. the end. |

I donate to several local and international charities a year. Including a program for under priviledged children. I also donate my time at a myriad of events for children doing face painting and other activities. I choose to sell my things and donate cash. Doesn't make the sentiment any less than donating clothing or furniture. |

When someone after buying something brand new that cost a considerable amount of money has a change of heart and can't return it or whatever reason, decides to sell it to someone else to get some of their money back , that does not make them selfish and insensitive to other people who are needy. Shit happens. Now I am not saying that someone in need of clothing/furnitire/food or whatever doesn't deserve new or brand new stuff either or that they aren't worth it. What I am saying is, it is not completely selfish to do this from time to time. Not everyone can afford to constantly donate even if they have expensive choices in clothing or whatever, it's not your business, everyone deserves nice stuff especially if they work hard to earn the money for it!
I'm sure that if they weren't able to sell the items and it would be a huge waste of money they would be much more inclined to give it to someone in need that would deserve and appreciate it. I am all for giving things to charity as well as money (to the right organizations that is), in fact sometimes I think it is better to give money to certain things like Avana said because those people in need will be given an opportunity to receive something brand new instead of always getting used old shit that other people no longer want or need. Sorry if this has become a long rant that hardly makes sense reading but it made sense when I wrote it. I just think it's a tad condescending and tacky of you, ragga-whore, to sit here accusing them of being selfish for doing this, because HEY! did you ever think that maybe people who do this aren't really wealthy enough either to ALWAYS be giving their stuff away especially when it has value and can help them out financially as well. If I had the money to donate money and other items to charity constantly without thinking about myself first I would, but as far as right now goes, I can only donate as much and as often as my budget will allow me to while still taking care of myself, that doesn't make me selfish it makes me normal. The people who can't afford it but will do it anyways, that is really fantastic and kudos to them! but their actions still don't make the rest of us any more selfish or worse of a person. I have a hard time believing that you had "5 GARBAGE BAGS FULL" of baby clothing to donate so soon after your child was born. Just because you donated some used childrens clothes doesn't make you a pillar of society. I doubt you donate anything more than that. I donate my time, money and otherwise every chance I get. The way you present yourself here makes it seem like you don't see much past your world. You should get off that pedestool you have put yourself on, cause from down here, you look the same as everyone else in this thread. |

And it's OK - I understand that in Surrey most people wouldn't understand selling clothing because it would actually have to have a re-sale value and be somewhat current to be re-sold. |
