Whalley is a diamond in the rough of Surrey, the reason I bought a place in Whalley is because the prices there on real-estate are going through the roof, its an investment apartment.

I used to live in the low rise. It is actually a really great area, lots of new buildings going in...soon it will be the Collingwood of Surrey.

Smart buy IMO. Did you use Justin? We used to work together, he's a fabulous realtor.

I grew up in surrey, its not as bad back then as it is now

they're making that area clear for 2010 and when i go back to slurrey to visit the parental units, i see hobo after hobo.
Fraser heights on the other hand is looking good.

IMO another hundred grand isn't worth living in Vancouver for the same apartment. Thousands of people are going to be moving into said area within the next 5 years. These people aren't trash. They're kids with rich dads, new families, or people with an education and a nice paying job. This will create a totally different community and culture within surrey just like whats happening in places like fraser heights, Sullivan, Morgan Creek. Sure all you would have to do is drive down a couple blocks to see where the trash moved too but its the same thing on the east side. You have beautiful apartments only a few blocks away from one of the nastiest streets in Canada. In the end I would be much happier paying 200k for a thousand ft apt even though my neighbor has a confederate flag draped over his broken window than paying 300-400k or w/e rent cost might be living in Downtown Vancouver.

if i had gotten over going to the same three clubs every weekend and being able to walk home last year i probably would have bought a bigger place. if dt has anything going on besides gays, dollar pizza and not having to learn to drive i haven't noticed it.

Fraser heights is right off the number one. 25 mins from downtown, 5 to coquitlam, and about 5 minutes from anywhere else in surrey.

The real con is that feelgoods neighbors have quite to grow up going.

I heard there's a beach somewhere. And maybe some kind of famous park?
