I think it's kinda cute how you get into it super early though Kat, I know I'll be scrambling a week before christmas but that is just how I am with shopping in general haha. I love winter and christmas spirit and all that comes with it but I get so exhausted from shopping that I want nothing to do with it after it's all over with. christmas really makes me angry because its all a fucking sham,and yet...i feel so obligated to buy my family gifts.Especially the little ones.The rest of my family id rather tell them to fuck off,but even I cannot be that cruel.Plus,i anticipate the gifts my brother gives me because theyre always really awesome.

Wow what a fucking bitter response that was. I am appauled. Sure Christmas is commercialized and the true meaning behind it is often forgotten unless you're Christian, but the principles are still there. I am not religious by any means either.

Christmas is about getting together with your family, exchanging gifts as a sign that you care about the people in your life and showing through a dinner and what not that their company is valuable to you. It's no different then inviting people over for dinner.

Perhaps you should think about that before you try and impose your bitter ideas of Christmas on your daughter. As for Santa Claus, since when did it hurt to believe in a little magic when you are kid, kids are innocent and indeed see the world through a pair of eyes that are their own, embrace this imagination, don't shut it down

I feel the same about christmas as any other person, but my family also celebrates it mainly in a very religous manner, thats how i plan to Raise Georgia, the same way that me and Nathan were around the holidays. Religon was the main part about the holiday. So, although i dont agree with Val i can see where she is coming from, I know i want my child to know the true meaning of christmas, and will make sure we teach her that. But there are many people that feel the same as Val, some even for religous holidays.
Now im not sure exactly what Val meant but did you ever think it could be, that she wants her daughter to know what the real meaning of christmas is, not just the presents.
You and i would have never missed or known "the joys of christmas and being a child having Santa around" unless are parents enforced that upon us.
People have different life styles and thats it, untill you are a parent maybe dont comment on what to think about befor raising your child. We all have these thoughts, things we say we wiill do when we are parents, but trust me it all changes when you get here.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it doesn't particularly sound like she is very religious and if you read my post up there, I did say that for those that celebrate it religiously good for them, however, it's more so a tradition in my family and at one point our roots were Christian, but it has evolved throughout the years, just like anything in this world.

I wasn't say don't bring up your child to think that that's the way things are, I was merely saying that shutting out things like Santa Claus and what not, isn't necessarily the solution. Yes it is about Jesus and how he was born.. however, to some who aren't as religious it's merely a time to spend with loved ones appreciating what you have in life and enjoying it to the fullest. I wasn't doubting anyone's parenting abilities and I know how I want my children to see Christmas and will raise them accordingly.

My comment was based on knowing Val and knowing her opinions on the whole santa situation (and easter bunny etc) We talked about it when we were talking about how we plan to raise our children.
My comment never stated she was religous btw even though she is, it stated some religons dont celebrate it, thats not her, and how my family is very religous.
