^ Read the post.
I said it was EASIER in the States, not impossible in Canada.

Edit: It would be a lot easier to grab Daddy's gun and take it to school one day when you were really pissed than to go through the whole process of finding and buying an illegal gun, no?

Actually, more Canadians per capita have guns than Americans, but that's because Canada still has a somewhat hunting gathering lifestyle, especially in the prairies. However, that being said, it is easier for people in the states to get a gun than it is in Canada. Here the laws are alot more strict and they are that way for a reason.

If you notice, here it's very uncommmon to see people carrying a gun on their hip unless they are the police, however, down there, especially in the south, it's a common sight. Watch Bowling for Colombine Carrie, you'll see that there is a difference

^ Agreed.
My first time in Florida I nearly peed my pants when I was in 7-11 and some random guy had a gun on his belt. (Granted, it was a lot more shocking since I had been drinking...heh)

Way more Americans have loaded weapons in their homes than Canadians. In fact, I do believe that in Canada if you own a gun it is not allowed to be loaded in your home and must be stored in a locked cabinet. The laws are not the same in the states, which is why it's much easier for American kids to have access to guns.

I do agree though that it's possible anywhere, just more probable where it's easier for kids to get ahold of guns.
Actually there's a higher gun per capita here in Canada than in the United States. We're just less likely to use them on people.

^ I said LOADED WEAPONS.
Like I already said - in Canada they are not allowed to be loaded and must remain locked up when not in use.

Ya, my spelling is terrible. I don't deny that. My grammar, and proper use of punctuation is there. Which I think matters more.

I would like to clarify that people living in Canada's bread basket do not live as a hunter gatherer population. Because people hunt, it doesn't make them a hunter gatherer. People living in Saskatchewan may hunt, may survive based on agriculture, but to my knowledge, they are not a nomadic foraging society.

Canada has more guns for a lot of reasons. A lot of people hunt in Canada, this could be for several reasons related to recreation, survival, traditional lifestyles, etc.

I think that why Canada has less murders by way of firearms cannot be easily explained or pinpointed with one reason. I don't think these days we can really say we're that different from our neighbours to the south. Perhaps it could be that Canada's population is signifigantly less than that of the United States and less numbers could mean less tensions exploding, especially in very densely populated urban or suburban areas. It could have something to do with our jobless rate being less than that of of the Americans, or the income gap being smaller..who knows.

The sad thing about this is that a lot of people like to parade incidents like this as a means for putting stronger gun control laws in Canada. Make no mistake, that is nowhere near being on our government's agenda. I myself support anti gun legislation to an extent, but I also understand that even with tough laws in place, people like Mr. Trench will still do things like this. Even with laws in place, it's not going to stop people from wanting to execute things like what happened yesterday. You can take guns out of people's hands but you can't change their desires or intentions by doing so.

I was in a Taxi when this all went down. I heard a phone call from a member of the student's union at Dawson. It was pretty crazy. She was trying to remain calm and level-headed, but you could tell she wa sin shock. I was even in shock when I heard about it.

Fucking scary. Wow.

My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone who attends the school and all of their loved ones as well.

Wow.

Here's a mirror to the Vampire freaks site.

I have family who hunt to eat... my point was the same as yours, yours was just fashioned in a more coherent sentence, thank you for pointing out my flaws.

So I just talked to one of my cousins who attends Dawson.... What will remain a mystery is why the gunman decided to go to dawson... The gunman did not attend dawson nor did he ever apply to go to dawson.... Nobody knows him or anything... The gunman did have a firearms license and 2 of the guns were purchased legally... the third gun is not since its not legal in canada. My cousin also told me that something is rather sad and the media is not reporting.... There are people who attend dawson and saw the whole thing go down who are in such a shock and a mental breakdown from the incident.... that they have not even gone home.... instead they are finding people roaming downtown montreal and in parks to scared to go home... and to scared to go into large facilities like a hospital or a shopping mall...
