Break in 'n Enter

Okay, so yesterday after I left my RN program orientation from chilliwack, and finding out that my doctor overcharged me by about $100 dollars on a Phys. exam, I come home around 9 pm to find someone smashed the front entry window to my basement suite, and found their way in. So yeah, my brand new HP Pent. D (very nice) computer tower, 30 movies, lots of music/games, digital camera, cell phone, graphing calculator, gold necklaces and a few other personal items are jacked :239: Not to mention they had the audasity to steal my 12 pack of cup-o-noodles soup that costed me $3.48 and my beer! I had about 5 officers in my house at one point in time, and a private investigator from richmond dispatched to my place as well. How does it feel like to sleep on the couch (to protect whatever technological belongings left) with a crowbar beside you? It does nto feel comfortable. I am very tired right now...any comments?

In my school backpack which was also jacked, contained some mini cookies in the back pocket...as I walked to my car this morning (which was just like 4 meters from my b.suite door) there is a hedge another 3 meters beside my car..guess what I found behind the hedge? Cookie snack wrappers! GRRRRRRRRRR~~~

The crime investigator summoned to my place said that this break n enter was a random, and did not appear targetted as nothing was broken or scattered all over the place. But he said that it is important to have deadbolts and long screws latching the plate (for the door bolt) into the frame to prevent the door from being busted in easily.

Now the question is, what is one to do after they were broken into? Look into replacing stolen items right away? Wait so if by chance the asswipes come for round 2? Or best bet to start looking into moving? The landlords have been informed, there will be a wired security monitoring system installed 24-7 soon...that and there is already a large 7 foot chain-linked perimeter fence around the whole property? Plus, I sleep with a nice crowbar with me now.

Did this happen in Chilliwack? Similar thing happened to me (not recent). Forced open a window & got my computer. Guy left no prints.

Cops told me it was probably an addict and often they will trade the stolen stuff to get drugs, in which case their dealers or friends have it.

^Some thieves are pretty stupid. When my friend's house got broken into the thief was still in their kitchen having a glass of orange juice when they pulled in the driveway!

sleeping with a crowbar won't help, you usually get pepper sprayed.
