Boxing trifecta

Starting on November 4th, we have three consecutive Saturdays with featuring quality fights:

November 4th - Floyd Mayweather vs Carlos Baldomir

November 11th - Calvin Brock vs Wladimir Klitschko

November 18th - Erik Morales vs Manny Pacquiao III

When I was travelling I didn't get to see many fights, partly because I didn't have anyone to watch them with, and partly because the time zones were generally not in my favour. I did see Mayweather vs Zab Judah, though, which went about exactly how you'd expect, complete with the obligatory posse on posse rumble.

Anyways, November is about making up for lost time.

Kenji, consider this fair warning!

Oh god Judah and Mayweather was liek a grade 5 fight with both the parents jumping in.

I did think mayweather would have done better though even though he did out class judah. I didn't think Judah woudl have came in so focused though,.

I wanna see FMJ vs Baldy strictly cause I love Mayweather Jr.

but the fight i really wanna see is Brock vs Wlad Klithcko. Difference between Wlad and Vitali. Is Vitali has a solid chin and has never been down, but Wlad definetly has the better techniques of the two dr. brothers haha.

EM vs Manny Paq i dunno about this rubber match. I really was hoping Barrera would get out of his fear and just rematch paquaio. Even if his first fight was a massacre. This rematch is what everyone wants to see.

Either Barrera vs Paquiao 2 or Paquiao vs Marquez 2. Those are the fights people want to see.

Personally I wanna see Floyd Mayweather Jr against Ricky Hatton or Antonio Margarito even if he is still a no name.

That was the plan. Shark Club on Cambie and Georgia, unless otherwise noted. (that goes for all 3)

Anyone who can handle Kostya Tszu should not be afraid of... anyone.

I could have phrased that better.

I dunno man. I saw the video of that fight. It was ugly as hell. Manchestor people were booing the australian anthem. Like no respect.

The ref was horrible, and let everything go including alot of grabbing and cheap shots.

besides we all know collazo beat hatton, but hatton got a lucky decision. i wo nder why he is going back down to junior welterweight

I hear Pacman is sounding to be in real good shape.

Question is how Morales will be. He looked so badly drained in his last fight with Paquiao.

Well part 1 of the trifecta is over. Mayweather made it look easy, but unfortunately, for the 2nd half of the fight at least, he also made it look pretty dull. I think he might have hurt his right hand, in his defense.

The actual highlight of the night was probably watching the other fight that was going on, where Shannon Briggs knocked his opponent around so badly that he collapsed and fell through the ropes onto the scorers table.

The lowlight of the night was spending $70 at Shark Club. Yikes. Next week I'm gonna just eat there, and save the drinkin for later.

Speaking of next week, I'm expecting big things for Brock vs Klitschko! Of the three fights in the trifecta, I might be the most stoked on this one, partly because it's two heavyweights who actually know how to box (!!!) and partly because it's probably the hardest contest to pick a winner. Klitschko has the power advantage, and skills to boot, but his stamina and chin are notoriously weak.. I think Brock could be smart enough to take advantage, and possibly skilled enough to avoid Wlad's power.

I'm calling for Brock to shock with a late round TKO.

Kenji, this time you better make sure you're not so HUNG OVER that you can't even come out :)

I know man.

p.s: Ya i heard about Briggs. Good I never liked Liakovich or however that guys name is spelt lol.

I do like Wlad though in tyhe fight against brock. I think if Vlad fights a smart fight he can handily win. Wlad has been fighting pretty thoughfully against peters, and byrd. Though byrd is like a cruiserweight at best lol

The Floyd Mayweather vs Carlos Baldomir fight last night was a complete yawn fest. Carlos isn't going to win a fight landing only 12% of his punches.

^ he needs someone on the level of a cotto or hatton.

Even Margarito... thoughh I think he will beat him too, but the size advantage would be bigger than baldi/floyd.

Margarito would have one of the best chances against him. He's big, he's tough as nails, he hits hard, throws fast, shows a bunch of crazy angles, and is just a complete bastard to fight.

And he'd still probably lose.

^ thing about margarito is not the power cause we all know he has that. Its the wide angles and more than that. The looping slow punches.

Judah at his best couldn't hit mayweather flush after the 4th round of their fight.

I honestly think mayweather will see all of margarito's punches. To beat mayweather you need to be

A great counter punches, have great hand and foot speed, be focused, and you gotta be able to last up to the whole 12 rounds. Power is what everyone always talks about but yet no one has been able to knock mayweather down or out. Except for a real flash knockdown in the judah fight.

^ I really honestly think Kostya Tzu was prob the only one who had a style very tough for a Mayweather Jr.

Not talking about the Tzu that fought Hatton, cause that one was way washed up. Fighting at 2am in Manchestor with fans that even boo a national anthem....

I'm talking Prime Kostya vs Mayweather. Would be a fight I would favor Kostya just cause of his fearsome counter punching.

The best boxers all can counter well including hopkins, toney, mayweather, tzu, hoya all of em.

So ya Brock got destroyed. Wlad started slow and couldn't get his timing down till about the end of the second round. From the third and fourth you could tell Brock was in trouble than BAM Monsters punches from the left and than a right and down goes brock head first onto the canvas.

So far both fights listed the favorites won in easy fashiojn. Especially in the baldi fight.

I thought Brock would give Wlad more trouble than that. But I think having Emannuel Steward in his corner gives Wlad a huge edge..

He's finally realized the potential people thought he had 3-4 years ago, before a series of shocking losses.

The only person in the heavyweight division who could compare is his brother, and his brother hung'em up.

Next weekend I favour Pacquiao. Morales doesn't have the fire necessary to match the Flip.

^ ya also notice Brock looked very lost in terms of footwork for the first two rounds. He slipped too.

He definetly had some nerves as well

Grapes I know you'll get a wow out of this.

This just in holyfield's promoter offers $20 million to Wladmir Klitchko to defends his title against Holy-fogey more like.

Does Holyfields promoter seriously think holyfield is gonna win let alone survive in the ring. This could be way worst than gatti/mayweather or anything along those lines.

Bahahaha! I'm seriously rooting for that, just so Wlad could put Evander in a wheelchair and I wouldn't have to hear that dumb fuck's name anymore.
