I want a new TV dammit!!
So I was planning on buying a big ass new TV as soon as I sell my place and move. However the other day my livingroom TV, the one I was planning on throwing away and replacing, just decided to stop working. Now it might be several months or longer until I sell my place and move, so I don't want to be TVless for a while. Well I've got one in the bedroom, but I want one for the livingroom as well.
I'm looking for something atleast 25 or 37 inches, but preferably 40 or 42. I don't need any fancy plasm, lcd, flat screen stuff, just a regular TV, brand new and nice and big with a nice clear picture. I'm aiming for some thing under $1000 if that's possible, but I don't want to get it off the buy & sell or anything like that. I don't wanna buy someone elses problem TV that they are trying to get rid of. I've found a few decent looking ones on the Best Buy and Future Shop websites, but I would rather avoid the huge mark-up of a place like Future Shop. Any suggestions of a good place to get big new TVs, at reasonable prices? |

yeah, go with a CRT, you should be able to pick up something around 35inches, High Definition and everything for under $600.
In a standard CRT they don't go much bigger than about 37ish inches before they switch the the floor standing "big screens" as you call it. I've seen 62 Inch CRT high Definition big screens going for around $1000, even at futureshop |

By CRT you mean like just a regular TV? A non flat-screen or plasma or LCD, just a regular TV set.
Also I'm finding a lot of HD tvs, as well as quite a few ED tvs which happen to usually be a lot cheaper. What is the major difference between HD and ED tvs? Is it worth paying extra for it to be HD? |

Just some random facts:
CRT = yes, regular TV CRT is original tube technology from when TVs first came out way back when... It has proven to be the most reliable, longest lasting, and provide truest looking colors. Yes, Plasma looks the best, but they have several negative factors, one of which being price. I don't see CRT TVs dying anytime soon, possibly in the new retail sales, but a true home theatre addict or movie watcher would buy a CRT TV over a Plasma or LCD, as they produce the closest to orginal theatre quality. At least this is true for CRT Projectors. LCD Projectors being the worst, then DLP, then CRT Projectors being the highest quality. My 16 year old CRT Projector .......... Looks as good as a brand new plasma costing under $1000 and gives me a 125" screen size in High Definition! (over 8 feet wide) HD vs. ED. Here's the basics of it. HD is true high definition. An HD capable tv can receive and output a HD signal in its true complete resolution (16:9 aspect, 1920x1080i Resolution) ED means the set can receive an HD signal, but it can only process part of the resolution. (16:9 aspect, not sure on res, something like 480p - 720p) So its mid range between SD and HD SD = Normal TV as we are used to it. (4:3 aspect, 640 x 400 resolution i think?)
