My take on the Canucks and their suckyness..

Okay, so.. I don't know why everyone is whining and crying about the canucks this year. I mean it was pretty obvious what was going to happen.. no? So first of all, we trade away 3 of our top guys, carter (yeah he sucks, but scored 33 goals last year), Bertuzzi (yes, he had baggage, and sucked his last year here, but was a perfect 'tree' for the top line, which we desperately need now. And Jovo, who although personally I think sucked, brought experience and a good guy in the dressing room..

Now what did we get back. Well, we all know Louongo is awesome, but imagine the pressure this guy feels every game thinking 'if I only let in one goal, we loose' So, I don't blame him at all.. Willie Mitchell, yes, he's pretty good, but he's no Jovo, the offensive defenseman that Jovo is. Bulis, what a joke this guy is, we have all seen him suck with pretty much every line combo. Krijeck (sp) well, he's proven himself a decent 3rd or 4th line D.

Okay, now.. I think Nonis was thinking a Calgary like team when he was putting these Canucks together. A banging and crashing team that digs in corners and grinds and crashes the net and digs and claws to get wins. With a couple of snipers and a hot goalie to bring up the back end.

Has this happened here? No. These guys shy away from digging in corners and would rather cycle the puck the whole game. Their bang/crash guys are not banging and crashing. We traded away a lot of firepower and got no one really offensive in return. This is a really sad version of the flames.

And now what. Trade Boulis, Chouinard, Morrison and his 3.2 million salary? Who's going to take them? And, even if we did, what would we get back? We could send them down to the minors and get the cap room, but they'd have to pass waivers. It's a baaad situation with not many options. Nonis has backed himself into a corner nicely with this one. In the new NHL which is based mostly on offence, Nonis is trying to win with virtually no offence, no farm and no cap room.

My rant, anyone want to have a go?

I just wanted to also add, this isn't all on Nonis. V has not been the coach i'm sure they were expecting, even the european scouting has sucked so badly for a long time. Besides Edler the last player they brought back that actually did anything here was BURE. No shit. It's a joke. The schedule has not helped the Canucks, they've had some bad luck the last while, both with goals and injuries. But that shouldn't be an excuse though.. these guys just aren't to par with the top teams in the league.

I could go on and on here (I already have) so I'm going to leave it at that.

i agree with you on some points, everyone we got rid of i could really care less about. sure we could use those TYPES of players, but we dont need those specific players anymore.

as to who we have now, get rid of chouinard/bulis/fitzpatrick (either by trades for draft picks or send them to the minors), sign allison or bondra and some cheap hard hitting d-man.

this should help with putting the puck in the net. i can't blame vign. i'm blaming the players this time around, thus i want some moves made.

yeah we need to sign bondra, he'd be good with Nassy.. then put Pyatt back out with the sedins. gettin rid of carter was also assinine, top scorer.. who cares if he only has a couple seasons left, he seems pretty healthy to me.

I agree with what you said to an extent, but Bert had to go.. he was a big baby, don't care about him at all. Jovo was a good player though, notice how last season we struggled without him and played way better with him? Dno if you ever seen him skate in person, but he must be 1 of the fastest in the league.. buddy can fly, and sees the ice well. aka talent.

but it was either him, or Luongo.. in terms of cap, and Luongo to me was a no brainer.

bottom line, we've chosen to rebuild a team.. and that takes 2-3 seasons to come full circle, we can't expect to do much this year.

Remarkably, despite how bad things have gone for this team, they've remained a contender within the Northwest Division.

Northwest division team all slide up and down this season thats why there is no run away division leader yet. I thought maybe Calgary was getting to where they were last year and were gonna run away with the division lead. So far though it has happened like that.

Minnesota looked like they were gonna dominate as well as the ducks and sabres, but they just ended up sliding right to the .500 mark.

Imagine being the L.A Kings or Coyotes. Man they have to play Anaheim, Dallas, and San Jose 8 times each overall in this season. Brutal.
