James Kim of Cnet, victim of blizzard
If you read reports on tech products at cnet.com or watch the G4TechTV channel (Call For Help program), you might have seen James Kim and his reviews. Anyway, he and his family were on a car trip between San Francisco and Portland and they disappeared about 10 days ago. Various websites were asking if people had any idea where they might be, and a search was started.
His family was found a few days ago and James Kim was located yesterday, tragic story. Fortunately his family survived. They got lost in a blizzard in the mountains of Oregon and were stuck in their car for over a week. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/12/06/mis...ily/index.html Last edited by beedub; Dec 07, 06 at 01:34 PM. |

its a tragedy that his family lost a father and a husband, but I don't understand why the media is calling him a hero.
He almost got his family killed with his own foolishness and if he had just stayed with his family, he would've lived. how is that heroic? |

that's tragic, he should of waited! Then again, after 9 days he may of thought all hope would be lost. I would of waited longer myself.

I'm not sure how sensationalism changes the fact that there are two kids and a mother without a father? You can find independent maps all over the place of where he walked to find help, but in the end does it really matter weather or not he walked 2 steps or 10 miles? The outcome is still the same.
Until I'm stuck in a car for a week with a hungry 5-7 year old and a 7 month old I'm going to refrain from making comments about leaving the car. It's pretty easy to be an arm chair survivalist. |
