My friend asked me to go to Baker but by the time we decided we were to lazy to go to the cabin that night.

Oh well.. wasted one glorious day of powder for sure... and I had my swallowtail board at baker too. :(

Went up to Apex w/ a bunch of people.

Huge dump! Lots of fresh tracks!

Hardly anyone there. We were practically sliding right on to the lifts, all day.

Stellar day!

Frosty

dude I've ridden whistler tons of times and I've ridden mt washy.

whistler's snow is more damp, mt wash. is more dry. dry=better.

don't even get me started on the sketchy conditions whistler always has.

ok so they are pretty close right now, but last season near the end (march/april) mt wash had 500cms and whissy had like barely 200. it's all good I'm not hatin or anything, whis has a sick park, I'm just sayin.

i've ridden whistler/blackcomb heavily since 83 and i've been over to mt. washington ski racing a ton and a couple times since i've been snowboarding. you have no clue what you're talking about.

mt. washington is generally the first spot all the water-logged clouds dump their snow on, it's wet wet wet. they may get more snow but you're kidding yourself thinking it's dry.

I still disagree. All the water logged clouds float over the island and get stuck in the mtn range whistler is in.

meh everyone has their opinion, I just think whistler is really overrated.

it's overrated if you don't know the secret spots, that's for sure.

just a quick question: does water-logged mean lighter to you?

lmao I still think you're delusional.

maybe I just haven't had enough experience @ mt washy yet, or maybe everytime I've gone it's just really good. I just notice the temps are usually colder, no rain bs here n' there or fog. Yes I'll agree whissy has better backcountry though.

I compared it to big white, everyone knows the pow there is dry.

IIRC, that was 9:30am

My friend and I laughed at the people in line, went back to the car and I ripped it up back to Squamish for breakfast at Whitespot.

I'll back you up a little... I've been up a few times to Mt. Washington this year, and the snow has been FANTASTIC - dry, dry, dry. Very nice.

Comparing Washington to Whistler though is apples->oranges. Granted, the last couple seasons have sucked pretty bad, but if you get a nice day up at Whistler/Blackcomb, it is heaven. (problem there though, are the lineups as pictured above)

No joke, my favorite rides in the last couple years have been at the tiniest of mountains: Mt. Cain, even further north than Washington - NO people, PLENTY of FINE backcountry, deep, deep pow-pow. Very small mountain relatively speaking, but I've had the BEST times up there.

Werd son. Yeah I know it's like comparing apples to oranges that's why the argument was pretty dumb.

Ill have to check out this Mt. Cain place, sounds like a good place to build some backcountry booters. How far north of mt washy?

Mt. Cain is 1 1/2 hrs north of Campbell River - sooo.. roughly 2 hrs PAST Mt. Washington.. The road up is super sketchy, and I recommend taking the bus that leaves the base at 8:30am instead of driving up (unless someone's got a suitable 4wd)

I actually drove the bus up there last season (free pass, went every weekend)

Here's the kicker though - Mt. Cain boasts TWO t-bars.. that's it -- but don't be fooled -- it is honestly a wicked mountain, as long as you're allll about the backcountry.

Sounds cool though, I'm all about the backcountry.. is there lots of cliffs n' shit?
