out door party/open air setup?

called to help out with an outdoor "highschool" party in abby. what kind of PA should be used? what setup?

ive dont many house parties with reg. Mackies. but i dont think they would work in the outdoors... and we cant afford to rent bandpass subs so i need the fnk peeps to help me out here, tell me what to use and do and what to watch out for technically

any sugestion will do

lol well... my client wants it to be a rave and that doesnt help very much. seeing as how music varies, trance/hard dance will probably be happening. so the respected outdoor PA for for that demand will be needed.\

thats why i need teh helpz

anyone think i should get the Mackies and have them as high up as possible to shoot te sound far.

and he has a home stereo, mabey i can make use of that?

I've done a couple outdoor parties with a pair of Mackie towers and one or two Yorkville subs.
Of course, it was dry and covered where I was spinnin'.

It really depends on the size of the party...

anything thats outdoors should have a large number of watts and speakers if you want high volume levels and decent sound quality. Passive speakers are recommended with a good set of amplifiers and processing. The mackie's you are probably referring to would probably be Active (self-powered) and probably only about 350 watts each. You would probably require at least 4-6 of those, not including subs for anything outside of decent volume. Subs usually you run double what you have for mid-high units. so 4 mid-high speakers and 8 subs would perform nicely. I have my own rig suitable for smaller shows (200 people indoors). What sort of size is this expected to be?
