Just got the weirdest speeding ticket
I'm heading Northbound to get on the Lion's Gate Bridge and I pass a police car that wasn't turned on at the South end of the bridge. I was going 100kph in a 50 zone. :(
I'm almost to the other end of the bridge and this car comes zooming up behind me and the flashers get turned on so I pull over. Cop: "Didn't you see me?" Me: "Yes I did" Cop: "How come you didn't slow down then? I got pretty upset that you didn't at least try to slow down" Me: "Well I didn't think you were going to bother. I thought you would have nailed me before I almost got off the bridge if you wanted to pull me over." Cop: "Really?" Me: "Yes" Cop: "Well instead of giving you a $186 ticket for excessive speeding I'm reducing it to the minimum fine of $138." I'm like WTF? Must be my charm or something. |

Honesty.
Cops (for the most part) are looking for people who are speeding who are impared or cannot control the vehicle at higher speeds. So, if you were aware of your speed (as you stated to him you were) then its not as bad as if you had said "OMG LIKE IM LATE FOR WORK!". You showed that you knew what you were doing, and you were honest about it. And you were nice, and polite. |

Ive always been polite and apoligetic... always gotten the lowest rate or a second chance. I dont understand why anyone would give a cop a abd time... your only going to make it worse in most cases. Although I do find that weird that you admited to speeding so he gave you a break? I would of thought using an excuse like you where running late for something or having a bad day would work better??? Im starting to question the physcology of the justice system :? |

It depends on a few things.
- if the cop is having a bad day or not - if he hasnt hit his "quota" for the day - a personal judgement of wether the thinks the situation was uncontrollable , not really a danger to the public *(or anyone on the road)* or if he would do it himself. |

did he clock you on radar? Because if it was a drive by turn around to pull you over, then it's under the assumption you were speeding and they will ask you questions for you to basicaly tell them your guilty so they will write you a ticket. They can't give you a big one, but a ticket none the less. If you would of played dumb then you woulden't of got one at all! :)
"Do you know how fast you were going?" "No!" "Ok, bye." |

And thank God I did spend all the money on that equipment or I wouldn't be driving due to all the other speeding tickets I would already have. |
