Buying a notebook...

^^ I agree. Got 3 friends with Apple notebooks and mostly all they do is websurf, and no creative work. Whereas I do PhotoShop, video editting, & music on my Windows desktop & notebook.

Still, I would like to try a MacBook and it might be my next machine. Because the OS and software do appear to be rather slick. Nicely packaged too.

ive been a mac user for a few years now.

its all about OSx. the value of the extra money spent on a macbook pro is in the software.

windows is just a godamn mess.but i still keep a pc around for various internet tasks,downloading crap and my beloved soundforge 6.0

my beautiful mac i keep for all my editing work and connects to the net only when i need to. im content with letting my PC sit as the virus infested whore that it is.....

bottom line: now that the mac is powered by intel all they have going for them is the fact they're pretty nice laptops. the prices have come down a lot too, and their customer service is certainly friendlier than most of the other big manufacturers.

Price is a non-issue, historically macs have always had and still have good resale value compared to a PC.

As far as video editing and photo editing goes, there is a difference. It's one that people who haven't used both platforms don't understand. It's called work flow. It's the little things like expose, spotlight, being able to highlight text in a document and drag it to the desktop and automatically creating a document that make using OS X more pleasurable.

With a mac you have access to more software by having access to both operating systems.

Final Cut pro, garage band, logic, shake , aperture, are all creative packages that can't be run on the PC platform.

Generally speaking you will be hard pressed to find laptops that are as slick and nice to use as Apples.

I'm a Apple developer and i used a pc until 2003...
I would never go back and i have used pc's quite a bit lately.
If you want a system that 40% of your time goes into virus protection,spam,ect ect ect ect.. go with a pc.

problem solved, now i dont have to spend 2000$ on a mac.

thanks for all the advise guys, I think I am going to play with both and really just go for what I like in the end. Both have pro's and con's definatly :)

Yeah I don't get it either. I've never had a virus or spyware on any of the PC's I've owned.
