Do you think you're growing out of the rave scene?
I think I am. I used to be really into it and I even started DJing but lately I've been feeling that life is calling me into another field of interest...
When I first started out, I thought that the desire to rave and that passionate flame of unity would never burn out... Does anyone here feel the same way? |

This pretty much happens to everyone man.... it's definitely not a unique situation by any stretch of the imagination.
I have NO interest in going to a rave ever again. That doesn't mean I don't love the music and go to club shows though. I can see how someone would fall out of the rave scene but what I have a hard time seeing is losing interest in the music. I guess people grow out of it maybe or move on to different forms. In my experience though I still enjoy hardhouse for example as much as I always did.... I've just expanded past it to enjoy others genres as well. |

To clarify - I still love the music... heck I will even continue to spin it forever! And I meant that seriously cause electronica is one of my passions.
It's just the 'rave' and 'raving' part of things that subsided into a pile of less passionate interests of mine. Clubs are still cool like Cdn_Brdr said if you go once in a while to just have fun. DJing is cool too, I will never say no to that either. I guess what I meant to say that the 'ecstasy' of raves (metaphorically speaking)... has lost its 'cocaine'. I haven't gotten that feeling yet, but I've definitely been around a lot less than a lot of people. Also, I'm sure the photography job I've got helps to keep things interesting as well. However, I'm sure there'll eventually become a point where, to quote a classic movie, "I keep getting older, they stay the same age" in regards to the girls who attend will disgust me to a point that it eventually drives me out.
Right now though, I still enjoy the music, and it's been great meeting a lot of people whom I would have never otherwise met. |

i've only been to a handful of raves since my first one 7 years ago ... *thank god*
but I find the whole coulture alot less fascinating than I did as a teenager. I'm just in it for the music now. Listening to it, producing/writing my own stuff, and djing. Plus, the odd club night to fix my dancing jones. |

I've only been in this since 05... I'll still hit up a rave depending on the venue and lineup. The first few were for the sake of going to a rave... after all, I didn't know what the music I liked was back then. Now it's like any show; there's got to be something to draw me there.

When i think about the times i had the most fun, and the times where i felt that unity feeling the most... honestly... was at spanish cultural centre smaller events back in the day..
but now.... when i go to a rave... i feel really weird... it's filled with cocky ass people and wannabe gangsters... not that those types weren't around before too... but now it's just rediculous |

I think it is pretty clear what my view is on the rave scene. If my attitude towards it doesn't stink enough, I am going to have work on that....
But as Apex is the only venture that I have left, I am still unfortunately tied to the scene. I would like to have a normal week, with a proper 8 hours sleep, and no stress. |

i don't think i feel like i'm outgrowing the rave scene, more like there haven't really been any raves that peaked my interest. nothing really new...no great DJs brought in that i felt i had to go see, higher and higher prices, etc...

Went to a few raves, turned 19 and never went back. They are over priced and for the atmosphere I get at a club... I despise it now. I am not going back. Only rave I'll even think about going to is Freak night this october because they are always killer. I found it got boring, it got the same and it got annoying.
