Travelling is what I seem to have focused my life on since highschool. It's the one thing I've found thus far that makes me truly happy. I really believe that those experiences are worth infinitely more than the money you spend on them. I went to Europe in the summer of 2005, and to Cambodia in January of this year. Going back to Southeast Asia in January of 2008.

i will go somewhere in april, but haven't planned anything yet. haha.

if anyone has any questions about northern india, i may be able to help. i spent a month there nov-dec 05. that is one place i would not recommend women attempt alone, as fun as 1) having every single person (all male) turn around on a bus to stare at your chest for three very long hours, 2) being followed by packs of young men back to your hostel, 3) having the all-male guesthouse staff chant your room number as you go by, and 4) having male shoppers continuously 'accidentally' brush your bottom in a crowded market all are.

india was incredible, and i probably grew to understand more about the world in the month i was there than i ever could in a lifetime in north america, but i swear i never exhaled for a second. there was never an opportunity to!

I think you know just as well what a passion I have for travel. I fall in love with almost every place I go to. Its not just about seeing something new, but actually living in a whole new place and culture that makes the experince so meaning full and adventuress.

Recently ive only done some short trips that seem more like vacations or business trips. But I do plan on doing a whole year long trip again around the world in the next 2-3 years. Im pretty content and happy with what im doing at home right now and rather wait until I need a break from home before I set sail again for a long period of time.

Besides small trips, I may get involved with my School's trip to Africa next summer. Which Im really looking forward to as its with my highschool students and we will be helping to build a small community in Kenya.

I know I will travel for the rest of my life... I do in a way want to see almost every country/area of the world at least once in my life time.

Even though im a huge fan of traveling alone... there are some places in the world I could never travel alone in, especially when so young. Do you think traveling with a second female would of helped a bit?

Nope. It wasn't a fear of physical violence in India, it was just the constant stares and little harassments. It's en entirely different culture, and women just don't have the same respect... especially young, white women. Most people in India still see us as the whores portrayed on MTV and Baywatch. I briefly travelled with other women there, and though it was a little nicer, sometimes I felt like we were more of a spectacle because there was more of us! The second I was with a guy it was like I disappeared... Oh, they still wanted to stare, but that would be disrespectful to the man. Shopkeepers/waiters/hotel clerks also stop talking to - all harassment is diverted to the male! Kinda nice.

I don't think I'll go to another Muslim country/area without a male companion.

A buddy of mine did the China thing.
He had three words to sum it up.
Crowded, dirty, and polluted.
