I want to leave Vancouver and see the rest of the world. Not from a tourist's perspective, though. I want to live and work in a few different countries and absorb as much of their cultures as possible.
I'll be able to do it soon enough. =) I'll always come back to Vancouver, though, I think. It's the best place to live. |

Maybe experiences you wouldn't want with a friend, but mine know that I'm open for anything. no matter how bizarre. I wouldn't hesitate for a second just because a friend was there. In fact, I'd be a lot more outgoing since I have someone I trust nearby, if anything.

Im a self proclaimed travel addict as well. I cant wait to get out of the lower mainland in September. I have no idea where Im going but Ive already sold my car and Im going to blow this popsicle stand.
Travelling has made me independent, confident and more in touch with whats going on in the world. On the downside its made me detest the routine and comfort of my real life. About the travelling alone part - I always travel alone and there are tons of girls everywhere doing the same thing. I travel alone because I can do what I want to do and go where I want to go on my own time. I found in latin countries I was treated better when I was on my own than when I was with a guy friend. Locals would help me put my backpack on, point out good places to go dancing etc etc. As long as you have street smarts you'll be fine. Where are you going next? |

I totally agree, i'm a travel nut as well. Although I haven't done any real travelling outside of North America is a couple of years, this year will be huge for me, and I can't wait.
Doing europe in April for a month and a half, covering France (both northern france and paris), belgium (brussels) czech (prague) germany (berlin) italy (venice) and spain (barcelona, madrid and the south coast) and ofcourse England (london, brighton and york) and ireland (dublin) and THEN, it's either Toronto for 6 months (mainly to travel through out the eastern US and have TO as a home base) or Australia for 6 months - which is seeming a lot harder to set up, but, who knows. And really, that's just the start.. |

I agree to an extent. I did Europe for a month with my boyfriends sister. I hadn't really gotten to know her before we left, so it was a great way to get to know someone. Her and I split ways when she met a boy in Florence and I was on my own for a month seeing the rest of Europe. It was the best experience of my life. I met so many amazing people, tons of Canadians and Aussies, I helped people learn English when I just wanted a day to put my feet up while in the hostel, I walked through museums with my headphones on and experienced so many days of aw. Next stop: Japan 2010! |

That's why Im training to be a coast guard, so I can sail around and see cool parts of the western world!! Hell these guys go alllllll over.. I can't wait.
Experiencing new cultures is how you really develop as a human being in my opinion. Go to certain places in the world, and your struggles here suddenly don't seem so bad at all. It's crazy how good we have it and people think their lives are hell. |

i'm a self-described travel junkie as well. at this point in my life i'm starting to become more career-focussed, at least in that i think that i know what i want to do now... and i'm ready to get started. what that means is no more multi-month trips, but hopefully still weekends here and there and a couple weeks somewhere totally random once a year. i'm lucky in that i have already had the opportunity to do 4 months in europe, and 8 in asia... but god whenever i think of travel i want go i want to go i want to gooooo. the current plan is to get the experience necessary here to get a job in montreal, toronto, london (ideal), or tokyo. for something different.
also, those who haven't traveled alone should really try it. it's an entirely different experience. anyone have any suggestions of someplace *hot* to get to for 10 days in a few weeks? not a resort, but i'm open to a different angle on a place like mexico. |

India hopefully by summer if not by the end of summer. i second the travelling by yourself once you've done it you'll prefer it trust me. Getting away and where to is usually priority #1 I'vebeen working for a good two years with one goal in mind get enough money to be able to travel for a looooooong time.
