Number portibility starts tomorrow! FUCK YOU TEL-ASS!

WPN = Wireless number portability
In a nutshell it means you own your phone number and you can take it with you to any wireless provider you want. The US has it, Europe has it but the major carriers in Canada opposed it because they want to ass rape you with their shitty plans. Once my contract is over I'm buying an unlocked GSM Treo and going to Rogers. |

Richard Branson of Virgin was on "The Hour" last night and it was said that he was the guy that pressured the government to get us number portability. Which he said was available in other countries for a long time already so we were in the dark ages.
Other news articles recently indicate we pay a lot more than other countries for cell service. My Fido contract is just about up. I bet they will be offering me deals. I pay my bill every month, they like that! Plus I roped in a few other suckas for them. Got to be worth something. |

and it's wireless to wireline and vice/versa, although not many people are dying to get wireline these days. Also it should be noted that the decision to implement WNP is not the decision of the carriers, it is the decision of the CRTC and pretty much all carriers have been pushing for this for years. |

The most important recommendation I can give to anybody who has/is planning to get a cell phone is to do your research. I recommend HowardForums.com. There's a huge user base and people are generally pretty helpful. Just don't act like an idiot and start a new thread without searching first. Actually, scratch that... Just don't get a friggin' Bell Cellphone. Sorry Ashley*Dawn, your employer sucks balls... |

I don't get why there's always so much hating towards Telus. They've been nothing but good to me in the two years I've been with them. I've never had any billing problems, nor have I had any suppport issues. I guess I'm definitely one of the lucky ones.
With that being said, for whatever reason, the signal for Telus and Bell in my new place is total crap. I'm lucky if I get one bar, and more often than not I just get no signal at all. As such, I'm spending the $200 to buy out my Telus contract and I'm going to Fido. The whole number portability thing just makes this switch that much easier. Considering I'm only spending $200 to buy out my contract after they gave me a free camera phone and $25/month off for the first year, I think I got my money's worth out of them. |

I used to be able to use 3rd party handsets and now I had to threaten them that I'd take my business elsewhere just so they would activate a Treo 650 without a data plan. Stupid CS rep asks 'why would you want a Treo if you don't want to surf on it?' If Telus gets their act together before my contract is up in a year and warrants me to stay then I'd consider but the way they have been bleeding money and the stupid decisions the new CEO of that company makes I am amazed they haven't folded already. |

bell is shit in bc because they have a contract with telus that the two share towers, but if you're standing right next to a telus tower with a bell phone, and it can get even one bar of reception from a bell tower instead, it will seek that bell tower. the same is true for telus phones back east. bell is absolute shit here, as is telus back east.

Unlimited data plans are everywhere in the US.
The carriers here just milk us for everything. I'm thinking of activating a Verizon North America plan based in New York and just do a Vancouver VOIP call forward to that number. http://mobileoptions.vzw.com/interna...ing_plans.html Call anywhere in North America for one monthly fee! It'll take Tel-ASS 20 years to clue into how to do that. |
