spread your drinks out more and switch up what you drink. Have a couple or so hard drinks, then move onto beer and drink them slower. The problem is the thin line between wasted and blacked out. |

i got smashed the last night of my tour, and i totally regretted it.
the guys that took me are chronic drinkers so i knew that i was going to get a few in me. a few drinks turned into around 13 or 14, then we had to drive from 45 km on a bumpy dirt trail back to camp. i didn't last even 10 minutes on the trail without barfing my tits off. and to make matters worse, i forgot to set my alarm clock. so i missed the last day, which is all overtime. that was $500 loss of wages because i decided to go out and get drunk. if you can, keep your drinking and you work life separate. if this is impossible for you to do, join AA. |

You learn the hard way if you don't.
I slept with a co-worker once after a night of "Let's go to the bar and watch the game and have a few!"... Thankfully, he was cool enough about it where he didn't want to say anything as well because he had a girlfriend. I quit shortly after. I get to listen to music in my office, my co-workers now know it is of a "trance" nature (I just don't have the heart to tell them it's DnB or Breaks or House... and I don't think they care quite honestly). They know I'm also the youngest one here... but I show up daily for my job and I do a good job while I'm here - regardless how much I'm hurting from the previous night. Functions where you have to socialize and drink, limit yourself... the last thing you wanna do is go up to the president of the company and tell them how much you diserve a raise. |

It really depends on your fellow employees/superiors and how they respond to it all. If they're cool with it, then I say go for it.
There have been a couple nights at work where after all the customers are gone we invite over some friends, lock the doors and have a complete shitshow. The best part is that it's free. :) |

As for my workplace, I'm only having one single, tall highball at the end of my shift with the staff for tradition's sake... and then aside from that it's bottles of beer so that I drink slower, ingest less alcohol overall, and I never want to spend that much money to get drunk. Bottles are $5.25 (rough). Last night was a success... left with a healthy swerve and good times were had. Maybe moderation isn't as difficult as I had initially perceived. |

it would be a bad idea, i work for a trust company so even being hung over affects my performance. Also i haven't yet learnt the meaning of moderation, when i drink often times i get stupid drunk.
its good to hear that there are other closet alchies like me out there. Last edited by SEAN!; Mar 31, 07 at 03:26 PM. |
