a good book? depends on what you're looking for

something heartwarming: "Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan

something futuristic and farfetched? "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley

political? "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, although, it's only good if you understand the Russian Revolution (Czar, Stalin, etc)

OH! one really good one is "Catcher and the Rye"
it's really cool, especially if you're in highschool and you feel that teenagers are a bunch of fake mofos....
:)

happy reading!

funny...we all mentioned "Brave New World", "A Handmaid's Tale" and "1984"

all three have a common theme and social comment

Liza, i read A Handmaid's Tale. It was really good!

Catcher in the Rye...that's a really good book too! Holden Caufield....i stil lremember the character's name. crrrrrazy shit. The book is about this teenager who sees so much corruption and taintedness in society..when in reality it is HE who is the most jaded and two-faced. quite interesting actually...

haha i love books/tv shows that give me nightmares!

my nightmares are soooo fucked up and weird! I LOVE THEM!!!

i liked Catcher in the Rye...it's just that i kinda wanted to Holden to die cuz he was annoying.

and we read it whilst reading Will Shakespeare's "Hamlet". and we had to find "parallels" between hamlet and Holden. it was stoooopid. i didn't even finish reading Catcher...i read like only a half of it? and then we had to write a literary essay on the parallels between Holden and Hamlet...and i just bullshAt my way through the essay and i got 94% on it. mwahahahaha.

the art of bullshitting. what a wonderful thing.

Has anyone ever read THE RAINBOW GOBLINS?:298:

It’s my favorite book and has been since I was a kid! ok ok so it’s a picture book but it does have a story (kind of a twisted one though) and if you've wondered why you can’t find the end of a rainbow the secret is revealed! This books as the most incredible pix that are all done in very bright oil paint.

Everyone should read (well look at) this book. You’ll all LOVE it!!!!!!!:370:
