I always look at the dessert menu before the real menu...

Here's another thought: One person pays for the dinner or whatnot, and the other pays for a night in a hotel.

The thing about doing the dinner thing at home, or picnic in a secluded park, is you are able to be as sexual, romantic, or chessy without prying eyes of nosey dinner eaters at a restaurant. For say you wrote a song for your significant other and you wanted to sing it for them, doing it in a restaurant might not be the best idea...

Personally, I think it'd make the night more complete if you went somewhere that was significant to the relationship, perhaps somewhere where you first kissed, or where you expressed some emotion to the person, etc.

I always make like I'm trying to pay for the guy, and usually I would, but I have more respect for the guy who won't let me pay.

I mean, I'm all for equality and going dutch, especially when you've been in the relationship for awhile. Nobody should have to foot the bill all the time.

But there's something about the guy that refuses to let you get your wallet out that is very sweet. I guess I'm still old fashioned enough to like chivalry. It's like tradition...which once in a while should be broken, definitely, but is nice when upheld.

I don't think it really matters who should pay. Most of the couples I know pretty much share everything from money to weed and anything els. One doesn't get angry if they have to pay and the other doesn't feel bad or embarassed.
