I drove a 76 firebird with a 350. Ballin car in the summer but sucked in the winter and shit. Got stuck on every hill in the snow. Even if i had speed. It got puddles and shit in it when it rained but it was a chillin boging car. It was a gay yellow car. The most heatiest car you would ever see. But i got rid of it a couple of weeks ago.

It costs a hell of a lot more to put quality sound in. My amp ran me $1200. :( |

i get my N in 2 months, and i just recently got a 90 chev cavalier 2dr 5spd... first car and its a pretty nice ride... and i have 2 6x9 alpine speakers and im thinking of getting some 12" 12W6v2 JL subs.... and the cool thing is the entire back folds down so im gonna face the subs towards the centre of the car and when there is only 1 other person in the car i will drop the backseat for maximum ballingness :P

Dropping the rear seats won't have a noticable affect. |

Depending on the volume level you night hear a difference.
Obviously at lower levels the bass might sound a bit muffled with the seats up, but if you turn up the volume the bass waves will pass right through the foam and fabic of the seats. Turn up the volume and you'll get a wicked back massage sitting in the back with the seats up! :041: |

i had a cavalier and there is VERY noticable difference when u pull down the seats. Sorry MC Hammered. But your'e wrong on that one. I know all about the price of quality. my amp ran me 700 beans. And that's the base model for the power i wanted. My next system will be Focal!!!!!!! That's quality!!!

Bass is bass, at 80Hz and below it is omni-directional and doesn't have a hell of a lot of notes to 'clearly' reproduce unlike midbass drivers. I correct myself by saying at lower sound volumes the seats do act as a muffler and limit the volume subs would make, but at medium to higher volumes then the seats don't make much of a difference. If one is going after sound quality then they wouldn't be firing the subs into the seatbacks anyway. To clarify what I meant about 'price' in reference to quality, I do not mean the most expensive stuff sounds the best, I was trying to say that the better quality audio components do cost a good chunk of change. One can't judge quality on price alone. Sound quality is also dependant on how you like your music to sound to your ears. My McIntosh MC431m amp ran me $1200 and my Alpine 7909L head unit is about the same. I wanted clean and clear and these pieces of the puzzle fit perfectly for me. Focal makes some good stuff, but stick to their mid level product and higher. The entry level product is not made with the same level of quality. Once again, this is my opinion. If you are curious, I run Dynaudio System 340 for components myself. |

Well it's quite possible that box dimesions is the reason it pounded alot harder with the seat down. It was just some ol box that i got for cheap. Something temporary. ButI've been in other peoples cars that had fold down back seats and it was louder, and they had a custom box built. Who knows??? I've heard dynaudio's before, all i gotta say is NIIIIIIICE!! |

With the seat up the sub box is now in a secondary box (the trunk) which changes its operating charateristics dramatically (box inside a bigger box). With less airspace than expected the sub cone cannot fully extend and the bass is not correctly reproduced. With the seats down, the box is operating as it should since it if firing into a larger air environment as it was designed to do and the sub box itself is limiting the cone movement as expected. This is why you would hear a difference in sound due to the fact the sub itself is operating in different environments. As for the Dyn's... you get what you pay for this time. :c-tard: |
