i got mine done for 42$ but then again, some 90 yr old bitch did it.. then as she went to the other room to get the ring left the needle dangle in front of my eye, and she had like shaky arthritis hands. it was traumatizing
then it rejected a year later and i'm left with an ugly scar |

ANY piercing can reject, not just after the healing period. A piercing can reject even a year later. My best friend got her navel pierced back in grade 10 I think. maybe grade 11. That was 6 years ago or so. Last year she had to take it out and get it repierced because the ring was bein pushed out...sounds wierd, but it's true.

its true! a piercing can always reject.. sudden changes to ure body can change peircings. ie. drugs, going on or off birth controls, infections or simply pressure on the peircing. i remember when i just got my navel peirced..about 2 days after i went to a party and popped... and about a week after my navel was not doin good at all.. blood was involved. now whenever i get a fresh piercing i stay far far away from drugs for teh first month or so.
my friend went off the bcp and her navel ring rejected right away...she had it for 2 years. eekz. |

Looks great on you!
I have 9 piercings....(not all 'exotic' ones, though!) and I've been pierced at most of the places mentioned in this thread so far... Next is a great place (in my opinion!) to get your first piercing if you're willing to spend the $$$, because they go into such detail with extensive talks on aftercare, the piercing itself, and anything else you could possibly want to know! Best aftercare take-home booklet there, too. It's clean, nice environment, good people. Downsizing is usually either free or about $10 depending on the jewelry. Rings are phenomally cheaper than barbells there, for the most part! First on Granville is alright too I guess.......clean, friendly people, good info--though not quite as much as Next--but for some reason I wasn't half as comfortable there...no idea why! However, it's substantially cheaper than Next, and just down the street! Sacred Heart is awesome as well......prices more comparable to First...sometimes even better...GREAT people...clean, safe and all that. Two thumbs up! I think I'm going to have to join the "I need another piercing NOW" crowd......all this talk has got me itching to be stabbed with some metal again..... |

All piercings are worth the pain and anguish you have to deal with.
As for the whole bit about rejecting... it can happen for a various number of reasons. The shape of the jewellry can cause a rejection (ie: hoops in eyebrows reject easily due to the movement and shape, it's best to go with a D-ring or barbell), the material of the jewellry (ie: my body rejects silver, i need to use titanium), drugs or alcohol use, sickness, and much more For the most part you don't have to worry unless you get regular infections or something of that sort. I think its time for me to get a new piercing too.... its either my other nipple or go for the double eyebrow piercing..... or maybe a new tattoo...hrmmm |
