i'm glad you're all hyped. i think wasn't even aware that tickets are still $55! in all honesty, the price is quite expensive. but this will be the best spooky yet because... well.. kraig and myself are working the show... what can you expect. we're sexy. lol
ah ha ha ha ha. i'm so pumped for this show. save your money, because if this is going to be "just a another party" than i expect it to be the best "another party" (does that work) that i've ever been to. (ok, that was promoting. and a weak attempt at that, but i mean it) .Lawrence @ Forwerd

2700 - 3500...that's piss all compared to a party a couple years ago. I think it was one of the last parties where the whole venue was opened up.
2700 * $60 = $162,000 Like there won't be a huge profit made. What happened to throwing a party for fun? I may have considered going if it wasn't my anniversary =) Hope it's a blast for those who go, you certainly deserve it.

well.. sweet gets wicked would be a better off party if it still went on...
tiesto WAS in town.. 2 years ago at the last SWG... i just .. had enuf of SWEET (amp) ent... screwing up.. and apparently they did screw up that nite too w/ the power goin off.. like WTF! but i heard teisto was tsill wicked nonetheless followed by anne savage but spooky that nite was also ok... lol sean i thot werdy was talkin about the OD's fro last year =p

It's almost like all of the other rave companies in the lower mainland didn't exist before. For your information it wasn't one party that ruined the scene, or one promoter that can take the heat for a lot of the stuff that happened. It was a number of occurrences and/or parties that hurt the scene a small amount at a time. If I remember correctly, Wicked closed early down at 2 AM because of a power problem. 2000 of the Wicked people showed up at the beginning of the night at the Plaza of Nations to attend Spooky 5. Let me give you a run down on the run down of the Vancouver rave scene by addressing the points you guys have approached me with.
Simple 4 didn’t shut down at 2 AM because of legislation. It had nothing to do with plaza of nations over selling at Spooky 5. At the time, the city workers were on strike and the city took away Twisted’s late-night dance party permit even though it was approved. Keep in mind, Sweet in the past has also over sold parties and people thought Sweet parties were imfamous because of it. Simple didn’t hurt the scene. If it did, why was the Millennium New Years Party one of Twisted’s favorite and largest shows? By the way, Simple 4 was after Spooky 5. If you’re going to try to educate the Form&Kaos, do it right. You also forgot about Matrix, the deaths, and the one murder. You also forgot the element of the media frenzy. There was a rave related news report on TV every month, time magazine and local news papers would voice their opinion about the scene. Because of this, many venues dropped out because they feared bad publicity. Online forums and communities such as LoungeX and Form&Kaos actually attempted to rebel against the secular world by holding events such as Dayglo to prove that raves aren't all that bad and to educate people about the culture. It got to the point where I actually remember saying to people in a satirical way "the news headlines should really say 'Miracle! People Survive Last Night’s Rave' because they make it sound THAT bad". Then people began complaining about cleanliness. GIVE ME A BREAK. It's a rave. "Oh I hate riverside, it's so dirty" "I hate Mitchell Island, its so ghetto" etc. You wanted places like Plaza of Nations where you could find multiple rooms, escalators, carpet, etc. The ticket prices went up because of costs. The city raised costs of raves, not the promoters. The city lowered capacity limits, raised policing costs, increased permit costs and insurance costs. This wasn’t necessarily done out of greed, but to discourage future rave promoters. The venues got greedy and demanded cuts from lighting & sound, and Security. And there’s more. The PEOPLE were half the reason for the current decline in the rave scene. Unfortunately, standards were high, confidence was low. If promoters were making as much NOW as they were 4 years ago, why aren’t there an equal amount of promoters now? Before the cities made their ANTI-RAVE BLITZ, the calendar on teamhardcore.com were always full. That entire summer where promoters flooded the scene so that EVERYONE lost thousands of dollars by trying to make a quick buck. A fully approved Plaza of Nations show costs over $120,000 to throw. If you’re going to risk $120,000+ wouldn’t you hope for a good return if you do well? You can’t go 2700 X $65 due to the $45 tickets. Raves DO go bad. People DO lose a lot of money. Also, the idea of PLUR went obsolete. PEACE LOVE UNITY AND RESPECT WENT OBSOLETE. lol. You guys are hilarious. Yeah, directly blame twisted and the swing kids for that one. Then the racism in the rave scene developed. People would complain, that there are too many Asians. White, brown, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc, who cares?! It's a rave. You’re not there to critically analyze each person. Then there were complaints that there are too many young people. There were also complaints that there are too many older people in the rave scene. Some of you guys started young. You were 14 or so. You danced till you were 20. Then you said, ‘I fucking hate the 14 year olds’ etc. And then you find going to parties with your friends to dance and listen to world class music “played out.” If you don't see the picture. I’m amazed that you've read this far. The Richmond rave scene went first. Then the municipalities around Vancouver out-lawed their "late-night dance parties." Then the Vancouver scene adjusted. I think you guys forgot about parties like matrix. It was a sold out party and the entire rave scene was upset because hundreds of people who bought tickets were not able to get in. I’m not trying to patronize you... but am I wrong? There was also another Plaza of Nations show where there were hundreds of counterfeit tickets being sold and Exert felt forced to accept the tickets. But, I guess we forgot about that too eh? Exert did a moderately good job of damage control. Bad incidents like this do not bode well to a government whom already wants to close down a culture. BTW, I really don't care about karma. Give me all the bad karma you want cowboy. I do believe a single party can begin enough change to improve the rave scene. The first step to making your dreams come to is waking up. Grant and I from Forwerd Innovations have been in the scene for a while, and we are aware of the trials and tribulations that are associated with the rave scene. We were the first party in Richmond when they legalized raves. You want ME to get the clue? Get your facts straight because you poke your finger this way. I KNOW what I’M blabbering on about. Knowing online posters, you're going to drill me for the fine details, spelling or grammar instead of trying to understand the truth and what I’m trying to tell you. You probably think Forwerd is evil. WE ARE DESIGNERS. WE DESIGN FLYERS. WHY DO WE HAVE TO GET A CLUE?! We’re happy locked up in our rooms clicking away on our computers in the dark trying to make paper look pretty. When I’m on FnK I don't speak on behalf of anyone but myself. And frankly, I do believe the scene can revive itself. it just takes a little bit of belief. .Lawrence @ Forwerd

Werdy... you asked good questions I shall answer.
again, how is the next spooky going to change the rave scene? -- It's not and we have not, at least I have not said it will. Spooky has proven to be a party that a lot of people, not all, have a good time and and look forward to year after year. This year will be another. We are trying to do our best to keep what is left of the scene alive... Rather than lashing out against those that are ptrying, perhaps offer suggestions on how we can do better in the form of constructive criticism. again, why did this need to be promoed in the lounge? -- It didn't... Lawrence probably figured that more people read the "Lounge" area than any other. The moderators can feel free to move it where appropriate. Peace.

I hear what you are saying and totally appreciate any point that is made --- I think I have proven to many that I do listen to critism/suggestions/idea's that come from F&K.
I think it is more yours and few others delivery that can be perceived as being negative. S'all good. Peace.
