hahaha all my friends are like that..
well they arent really that great of friends anymore.. but ya.. they all like top 40 and hip hop not like theres anything wrong with that. i like alot of hip hop and some top 40 can be fun but they are sooo close minded when it come to electronica. i dont know why its freakin annoying.. :( they say its becuase they cant dance to it.. but how easy is it to dance to nsync for crying out loud? and its not "cool" you notice how most of us "ravers" are somewhat "outcasts"? i dont know.. but for some reason i dont see the captain of the football team/home coming queen etcetc coming out to parties on a regular basis and if so they are only there to be seen. so since electronica isnt top 40 and "cool" alot of people wont like it.. ack.. just rambling now.. please excuse... :sweatin: |

i wonder why its differen't here then in europe..in europe they love electronic music, and its pretty much they only thing they play in clubs...why isn't it that way here?
hahaha people can't dance to electronic music? they must be the most uncoordinated slobs on the planet then..its called dance music for a reason..hahaha! what a fucking joke, i bet its the same people that try and dance to rock...rock is somehting that is more difficult to dance to. |

ppl will eventually get it. I do listen to electronic music all the fucking time. so u can't say it's repetitive if u're not high or any shit like that. I also enjoy the art of blending two tracks into one nice continuous mix(mixing/spinnin). I dunno, that shit interests. me. ppl who don't know, while in my car i play my music, so fuck all y'all. HAHA

because people are small minded when it comes to music.. they are not willing to give other types of music a chance.. and 1,2 CRAPPY old "techno" songs off z85 dont count. the FEW (and far between) friends who I have turned into trance/breaks lovers I crammed the music down their throat untill they realised.. "hey, its not that bad.." plus people get locked into one type of music and refuse to like anything else.. take some rap fans for example?
"different strokes for different folks" I guess is what it boils down to.. |

This is a question as old as time itself, although often replaced with something else.
"Why do non-ravers not like rave music!?" "Why do non-punks not like punk music!!???" "Why do non-gangstas not like rap music!!!???" "Why do non-cowboys not like country!!??" "Why do non-Christians not like Christian rock!!??" "Why do non-yuppies not like opera!!!???" Do you understand the point here? The moment you pigeon-hole music into a life-style or culture instead of accepting music as a form of audio-sensory communication listenable to anyone at any point in any time, it will not be accepted by those who do not believe in that life-style or culture. |

As soon as you play something that doesn't have vocals it is almost automatically to be considered "rave" music.
Electronica is played on the radio. Mostly trance and house, but its on there. There are so many genres of electronica that it would be impossible to play it all on the radio. Unless we get an electronica radio statio, and Vancouver had one. G-Spot was here for a few years. Vancouver in general is not ready for electronica, which in my opnion is kinda sad, but in a way not really. Hearing some breaks, dnb or even some hardcore would be nice, but I know a lot of "ravers" would start hating it cuz everyone else was listening to it. I have a feeling that I might start getting pissed if the radio kept playing Dieselboy over and over. When it comes to music, Vancouver is very narrow minded. Whatever is on the radio is what the majority enjoys. At one time it was rock, then alternative, pop and right now its hip-hop. And you can tell that hip-hop is starting to die. |

It's all about understanding what thing's represent. Punk music represents something different to someone who's a PUNK than a person who's a HIP-HOP-HEAD... different lifestyles fit different styles of music and unfortunately, music and cultures, way's of living have been pigeon holed into stereotypes and classes. Which as old as time there will be the HIP/Cool(FOLLOWERS) and then there's the DIFFERENT/outcast(LEADERS) who think for themselves and are willing to be different.

when I was a "non-raver" I didn't like "techno" music because all I heard of the genre as a whole was fucking venga boys or some shit like "you can be my squeeze toy"
When I was properly introduced to the good electronic music, plus the atmosphere, is when I finally appreciated the music |

my sister is a 13 yr old teeny bopper who listens to crap music for the most part, but she loves jungle now that i lent her my cds
