Dale, as much as I agree with everything you've said, I can't help but find it so fucking stupid. You've ragged on me on numerous occasions for saying that I speed, especially on the highway, yet you come into this thread and post just exactly what you ragged on me for. ugh.
Zondac, Dale: you're just LUCKY you haven't gotten a speeding ticket YET. Some of us (like me) have bad luck and get tickets for going 62 in a 50 zone and 112 in a 90 zone. Just because you know the road well (you know your roads like I know mine) doesn't mean that one day there's not going to be a cop hiding around a corner just waiting to slap you with excessive speed! |

uh. so you were speeding in other words? okay. that's okay. this whole thread is about speeding. so why the lame excuse? Quote:
also... you pay more attention to the sides of the road NOW? you mean you weren't doing this before? how is this supposed to make me think that you're a good driver? Quote:

i was waiting for you to say something. :) the reason why i spoke up regarding you was that you said that driving at 140 was completely safe and just your average everyday walk in the park... well, it isn't. it's pretty fucking dangerous, and if you aren't completely aware of that, you might put your attention on something else for a split second, resulting in disaster. when i drive at speeds like that, i drive. nothing else. it is not childs play. it's very serious business. You can never know where a ghost car is going to be "hanging out". For all you know he could be hanging out behind you.
For me, driving at 140 is pretty flawless, as I've stated in the past the only times that I have driven at that speed (or thereabouts) is on Highway 1 in the middle of a clear night. It's driving in a straight line, with hardly any other cars in sight.......one would have to be a pretty big idiot (or their car would have to fail in some way) to screw that up. |

Oh, and by the way, you shouldn't really be bragging about racing on public roads...I mean, seriously. If someone wants to criticise my judgement regarding driving fast, they should certainly not be someone who races!
I can understand the fact that you know the roads well therefore it's safer for you to speed there versus someone who doesn't know the roads. However, you just nullify that point by bragging about racing somone who clearly didn't know the road, therefore putting them and yourself in danger should the other person go out of control and either hit you or you hit them because you couldn't stop in time. |

see....i just dont agree on street racing because too many people are getting hurt and its not like they mean too obviously.....but the littleist thing could take they attention away and lose control for 1 second or whatever and it could be fatal....im not one to talk to much about driving or any of that shit...cuz i dont drive often...and im only learning right now....but yea...it scares me when people go really fast....i just dont want any one to get hurt!

My two cents.
I speed quite a bit. I know it's a bad habit. and I know i shouldn't do it. but, i also know i'm capable of controlling my car to follow curves on perfect lines that i map out seconds before i take them, and even plan my speeds according to what my car can handle to pass people. I drive a 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXi. 200hp, v6, 24 valve dohc, la la la etc etc. i don't care what you drive, and how well you know your car. If you go over a curve. hit a puddle you didn't expect or possibly a bump that passes you unexpectedly into somewhere that's not too pleasant, you gotta be pretty damned prepared and skilled to avoid getting fuct up. I live in Vancouver and i drive fast up and down vancouver, richmond, surrey, etc. i know most roads like the back of my hand. but once, i was driving my old 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue. That baby could hit some speeds. I didn't lose a single race even to some pimped out rides. But, one day, i was driving down midlothian (the road between natbaily stadium and queen e park) and i hit a puddle going 135 (a speed i can usually take on the same empty road) but i didn't realize that the puddle was 8 inches deep (possibly more) I hydroplaned for 1/2 block, hit a tree after spinning 360 degrees, missed another car by inches, and totalled my car completely. luckily no one was hurt. my point? It's not just the speed that kills. it's the factors that you can't control that kill. You wanna race in the rain? good luck. you wanna gun down granville street with a buddy chasing behind you in traffic, hope you don't kill anyone. What happens if you hit a bunch of dead leaves or gravel in the rain and you can't stop when you want to? your springs, nice spoiler, or antyhing won't save your ass. the sense to realize your environment and to not fuck around will tho. the whole granville situation, what happens if some idiot who's not speeding lane changes without shoulder checking. you're gonna get fuct up. speeding is stupid. i'm stupid. you guys are stupid. we all mind as well go grab a few beers and street race along number 3 like it's our turf. that'd be brilliant too. put YOUR life at risk any time you want. but do it on a track. don't put MY LIFE or MY FRIEND'S lives on the line just because of your pride. btw, maybe you idiots should take under consideration that building a ricerocket is also a full fledged hobby. purely for cosmetic purposes, not for speed. why is it that when a domestic goes over 100 it's speeding but when an import goes over 100 it's street racing? .Lawrence @ forwerd |
