How in the world can you not say parties are a pivotal part of your life?! parties are you gathering with friends, dancing, goofing around having a good time. a party could consist of 5 people in an apartment getting smashed, or attending spooky, and flailing because you're inside vancouver's largest halloween party of 2002.
I dunno. if the hype for this was like that of Wett, then the line-ups will be 1000+long by 7 o'clock again. see you all there ;) .Lawrence @ Forwerd |

I agree with you Lawrence,,, except you're leaving out a key issue here...
THE MUZIK!!! It's all about the muzic man ;-) I can almost guarantee to Johan Gielen will play many unreleased/unheard songs during his set. And that is a deff a pivotal point in my life ;-) |

OMG i used the word RAVE instead of PARTY! i broke the unwritten rule!! i can say with honesty that raves have changed my life and provded me with many memories that ill look back on forever. going to parties reunited me with an old friend group that i was seperated from a long time ago, ive made a million new friends, ive discovered so much music that i go crazy about everyday. without having gone to raves i would still be listening to basically exclusively metal and jazz... i know alot of ppl on this board feel the same way im sure. anyways, maybe its just a place for you to go to hang out and do drugs thus making it completely forgettable but... |

Eek. I really didn't mean what I wrote to come out as harsh as it did. It's just... hm... how to put this, I don't find that the actual event itself is a big deal, it's like going to a club, sure, it can be fun, but it's not going to be this magical moment you tell your kids about *unless* there are other factors, such as friends, or an amazing set, or meeting a wonderful person, or even a really good drug experience, and even then, in the grand scale of life, is it really that momentous?
I didn't mean raving couldn't change your life, I just meant a run-of-the-mill (don't jump down my throat on that one plz, I'm being tongue-in-cheek) massive won't be likely to. The hype about Spooky makes it seem as if it's, well, the pinnacle of human existence, and... it's not. It's going to be a good party, definately, (It's got Johan Gielen for fuck's sake) and you'll all have fun I'm sure, I was merely reacting to the hype. *backs away slowly* |

spooky is just going to be a good party,... yeah its a bit pricey but i mean if you are there dancing with good friends having a good time you can make it the time of your life.... i mean after my first party i came home and now all these newbies have been coming with me ever since even my 50 year old hippy dad and associate dean of UBC mom are beggin me to take them... but they feel as though they wouldnt fit in..... its all about having a good time and Spooky itself (regardless of anything else that may happen there or before or after) is going to be a dope party.... in my opinion its worth every penny...

After awhile, all "ravers" grow up and grow out of the whole "party hardy" stage. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just that as you get older your priorities change. |
