Did anyone see that little debate they had on cbc the other night with representatives from all parties?

They were mostly discussing issues involving the downtown east side... needle exchange programs, safe injection sites, detox centers etc.

you guys.. have you ever heard the marijuana party talk in any kind of debate or presentation??? They came to my school last year, along with representatives from a few other parties, and they were really uninformed on -many- of the issues. So uninformed that it changed the minds of many ppl who were going to vote for them... If you are going to vote (and IMO, 18 is too young and the only reason we can vote at 18 is so that they can collect taxes off of us..) you need to be informed

I'm not 100% sure yet.. I'm going to spend some time learning about the parties first... then most likely I will vote.

I think that in a city like Vancouver where weed is virtually legal (I mean come on you can smoke it any where) there is little relavince of a party that base's its self on weed.

As far as rooting for the little guy C.O.P.E. has probably 1/10 of the money the N.P.A. does and has no chance of buying the election. The reason I think that C.O.P.E. will actually WIN this election is because they recognize that to have a world class city we have to quit sweeping our problems under the carpet and actually deal with them. They have commited to make our transit system usable for all of us not just those people that work from 9 to 5 (read late night bus service). They have commited to easing the suffering of people on the lower eastside and to getting that community back on its feet. They have also commited to being a voice for our city and to fight the provincial cuts to our school system. They also are going to relax the laws that make it near impossible to have a good time in this city.


All I know is that I can hardly stand to think of the NPA getting paid to sit around and waste all of our time for another three years.

You know I totally understand where your coming from BUT if there is one election that is worth it to vote in it's a municipal election. These will have a HUGE impact on your life over the next 3 years. They will control everything from our police, to our transit, to our nightlife.

Haven't fully decided as of yet...I find warts on all of them that are big enuf to be taken into consideration...and I won't get into it here, but rather a quick thought that came to mind...

Since much of 'the scene' (ech, far too overused a term, but can't think of anything else) revolves around city rules and regs...why don't one or more of the promoters put on some kind of a 'vote party'...nothing major...I thought of a discount if u could prove that u voted...but don't recall ever walking out with something that would show it...but hey, I'm not a promoter...nor do I desire to be, so I'll leave that up to them...

But yeah, just a thought...
