how safe are we?
reading my morning news, I came across an article on the new bin laden tape were apparently Canada was mentioned, but not as we would have hoped..
"At the White House, President George W. Bush told congressional leaders Wednesday the new audiotaped statement that threatened Canada, Britain, Australian and other along with the United States was "timely," suggesting that bin Laden is alive." now I donno about anymore else, but thats just a little uneasyness I didn't need before I head out this morning. thanks mr.usa for starting shit with neighbors and bringing us into it with you.. -myles read the full artical here: http://www2.mybc.com/news/fs.cfm?sou...=CP&id=1217420

We're safe. Kinda. Our military is not the best right now. We are horibly under funded. They want to pull our troops of the ground for two years to re-build the military. About 4 billlion is needed to acomplish this. But we are safe. We are the HAPPY country, I love this place.

It might be useful to refer to Michael Moore's recent film "Bowling for Columbine" in order to get a sense of how, for the American government and media, fear is the order of the day.
While the media maybe be motivated simply by greed (if it bleeds, it leads!), the American government seems to be using fear as a tactic to make its public more malleable, so they're able to shape opinion in whatever way they desire. It's a lot easier to tell people what to do when they're scared shitless. With all of this said... IMHO we're safe until shit truly goes haywire, which should be within 5-10 years. Mmmm Seeing how our military is one of the best trained in the world but were poorly equiped and out maned at the present state i dont think that we would last at all in this world if we were to get into a fight with a country that we would consider to be smaller or weaker or less man powered
We do have alot of funding that is comming in over the next few years and will upgrade many of the things that we need to get if we were to come into a conflict with another, but it would still be lacking in man power. Many countries may not be technologically advanced as us when it comes to warfare but when it comes to men they will beat us. Infantry is the way that will lead the fight. Were the first on the ground and were the ones that have to deal with everything. If you have more numbers in ground troops you can occupy the building and the rest and take it over from the inside. None of the rest of the military trades can Take and HOLD that ground. only infantry. Canada would be a push over to take over if another country really wanted to beacuse the government would proably give it up so would the people. Most Canadian's arent willing to fight for what they belive in and would break to any invador. Also you would have to remember that were living in a harsh world these days and i bet we would get nuked before anything happens. There are worse things but you really dont want to know what could happen to you. Were Safe. For now.

If we were attacked, we would not be puch overs neal. Canada is one of the most patriotic countrys today. Like when canada took home the gold in hockey, i was doing deliveries in maple ridge. There were people all over the streets, screeming, laughing, showing how proud they were. WE WILL FIGHT TO BE FREE!

it's one thing to say that you would fight against an invader...but it's a whole nother story to see those sumabitches coming at you. i'd like to say that i would fight...but who knows what i would do when i was faced with having to defend the country. i might turn into some sort of berserk irish bastard yelling in a language similiar to gallach, or i might be a pansy and run into a basment and hide under a table.
