Dave Armstrong - WTF are you thinking?!?!
This comes from Nexopia and Dave's recent gig in Edmonton at the renovated Twilight.
Nexopia Wow. I just had the most bizarre experience tonight. Well, let me set a mental picture for everybody. One of Edmonton's afterhours clubs (Twilight) has been totally overhauled and it was the Grand (RE)Opening weekend. I was totally stoked about seeing all the wicked new changes to the club and the crowd it would draw. Last night Guyver headlined and tonight it was Dave Armstrong. Now being a house fan for years I was most definitely excited, unfortunately I have completely lost all respect for a DJ/Producer whom I formerly thought was for lack of a better word, solid. My boyfriend (Dr.Jekyll) was opening for Dave. He was just as excited as he has many Dave Armstrong tracks and thought he was solid as well. About 15 minutes into Dave armstrong's set things started to change. A full room of pumped up partiers from a dope House/Breaks set had thinned out A LOT because of what they were hearing, BUT IT GET'S EVEN WORSE. Armstrong was fucked up, beyond comprehension. I know everybody likes to party here and there but when you have to perform for a paying audience some professionalism is expected. So besides being absolutely fucking mashed, he decides to leave the booth. So here I was, standing off to the side chatting with my boyfriend and friends sipping on a Redbull, I found it quite strange that Dave Armstrong was no longer in the DJ Booth, In fact I found it even more odd that he was walking toward myself and my friends. I really wasn't expecting what happened next at all. He got right up in my face, my boyfriends face and my girlfriend's face about how we weren't dancing. At first I thought he was just joking and this is just his strange way of trying to interact with the audience, but honestly if he was playing half decent tracks I probably would have been dancing...but he wasn't joking. He was actually YELLING at us. He was literally INCHES away from my face telling me "TO START DANCING OR GET THE FUCK OUT. I'M THE FUCKING HEADLINER YOU BETTER FUCKING BE DANCING. IF YOU DON'T DANCE GET THE FUCK OUT". That is word for word what he said. I knew he was messed up so I just stared at him in disbelief and pretty much ignored him because he was being a fucking idiot and I figured he'd have to go back to the booth eventually. Dave did not return to the booth for the rest of the night, here's why: Not only did he start beaking off OUT OF NOWHERE, to myself and Sarah, but he then turned to my boyfriend (Resident DJ/Promoter/Boodang GM) and started yelling at him too. This is really bad because Armstrong was telling him to "get the fuck out" oh and here's the ticket. He then started pushing and poking at my boyfriend saying he has to "Earn his residency by starting to dance and getting Sarah and myself to Dance or he would get him kicked out". At this point there was a small crowd of people with bewildered looks on their faces. Not only did all of us keep our cool and try and calm him down, he just kept poking and pushing and yelling at my boyfriend. It was in and around this time that security got involved. The owner caught wind at this time of what was happening and naturally wanted to check things out and see what all the commotion was about. Armstrong then proceeded to continue his tantrum on the OWNER of the club. The owner was rightfully upset with the grand opening weekend headliner not being able to mix (holy train wrecks), playing extremely questionable tracks (that nobody was dancing to...AT ALL) and threatening his patrons/business partner. Armstrong wouldn't give it up. So for the very first time in my life, I saw a Headliner get booted out of the club...during his own set. Unbelievable. I honestly thought he was going to hit me or do something crazy. I'm absolutely appalled by his actions. What kind of self respecting DJ/Human being does that? People like that need to be knocked off their high horse. I have absolutely NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER for Dave Armstrong, what he did was complete bullshit. People came to see a headliner not some fucking asshole who threatens people because they don't dance. (Don't most dj's play different tracks when the crowd's not diggin it?) Last I heard, he was wandering around Downtown Edmonton by himself. I hope he fucking beaks off to somebody else and ends up in Jail. So for all you Dave Armstrong fans, take a step back and think about what kind of person he really is. I would NEVER want to see him spin at Shambhala. I hope somebody recorded this arrogant asshole I can post it on youtube. The night was bumpin' before and after Armstrong. Jekyll and Titus1 threw it down. /end rant. |

the best parts of that etown thread are definitely the 'myles davis did this all the time, david armstrong must be awesome!' and the 18 year old who posted on his behalf, if I ever get famous and pull a Mel Gibson I want to have an 18 year old clearing things up for me.

yikes... the fact that he starts going off on the people who "generally" enjoy his music..... damn.... ya he's definantly not going to get bookings around for a while.
I guess the flight across the rockies must of fucked with his head thinking that the snow caps were mountains of cocaine... |
