sim card issues

i am trying to transfer my information from my old phone to my new phone. but when i try to copy all my contacts to the sim card to move it over, it gives me an error stating that contact memory is full, and that 247 of the contacts weren't transferred, how do i save all of my contacts to the sim card to transer?

i don't believe i can be filling up one sim card with too much information considering the hd space phones have for crap like pictures and music.

help!

SIM cards hold a lot less than SD cards or the internal capacity of your phone. The capacity should be printed on the card somewhere. Try saving half to the SIM card, transfer to the new phone, then go back and transfer the other half.

stringbeans has a spectacular aura aboutstringbeans has a spectacular aura about
"hd" space on a phone and the sim card are two completely different things. sim cards usually only store the essential information needed for a phone to operate plus maybe 50 contacts

you'll probably just have to manually enter all the numbers in

if i were to go ahead and purchase a data cable and save it to my comp, and then transfer to my new computer, would this work?

i just don't want to waste my money to find out that it won't work for me. and seriously, who has time to transfer contacts.

actually my rogers SIM card doesn't show the capacity. they generally come in 16, 32, 64, 128 k sizes. 128 should be enough to hold 600+ numbers depending on the phone.

as for the cable, depends on what phones you wanna transfer to and from. sometimes you can go into a store and ask them to transfer the numbers for you too (used to get them to do this all the time at my last job).

well they both have software to connect to a PC, it's just a matter of whether it's in a compatible format. they're both nokia so probably. ask your provider to confirm, i guess.

.LxT is on a distinguished road
The site mentions both phones have bluetooth. Personally I keep backups of my address book/calendar on my laptop [also useful for syncing things]

If you or a friend has a bluetooth-enabled computer you might want to try it that way. For Macs, iSync [comes for free with OS X] lists the E62 as being supported [but does not list the 6310i].

If you buy a cable, the Nokia PC Suite seems to be a free download and supports both phones on Windows. That's another relatively simple way of doing it.

the easiest way if you don't want to buy extra gear:

1. Make sure all your contacts are saved to the internal phone memory of your old phone (i.e. not the sim)
2. Copy 1/2 your contacts to your sim card.
3. Insert sim in your new phone
4. copy numbers from the sim to the phone
5. erase all numbers from the sim
6. Put the sim back in your old phone
7. Transfer the remaining numbers to your sim again
8. Rinse, wash, repeat

you should be able to save a batch at a time. Is there a Mark/unmark option in your address book?
