Dawson College 1 year later
Well today marked the 1 year mark of the Dawson College tragedy. Seemed like it only happened like 6 months ago. There are alot of untold stories after this tragedy that has affected everyone. One of those untold stories is based on the number of people that dropped out that year. Both of my cousins attend Dawson, and really had there studies down to a T. But once when this tragedy unfolded, it has never been the same for them. And they aren't the only one's. My cousin John has been studying Radiology so he can work in hospital as a lab technician to read x-ray's,ct scans, etc... It was his 3rd year in Dawson. It was his sisters first year in Dawson when this shooting took place. They were both in the building at the time of the shooting, they heard the gunshots and the screaming, thank god they were able to run and exit the building safely. Now they are doing nothing because of the psychological affects of this event.
No one has released the figures however they have already estimated more then 85% of the students that attended Dawson dropped out before the school year ended. Everyone has been psychologically affected. What makes it even more sad is that everyone knows what happened there, yet the majority of the students that dropped out saying that the course was just not in there interest anymore but the truth is, the thing that had bothered them is the event that took place even though they had access to psychologists after the event. The only thing I can do is talk to my cousins over the phone and try and motivate them. But its hard because its still etched in there mind, it will take a long time for alot of people to move on unfortunantly.
