you're quoting a direct exchange rate basically showing how much american dollars you can buy with a canadian dollar. since you can buy more american dollars with a single canadian dollar it means that the canadian currency is more valuable.

Dear god... this is probably one of the easiest concepts to grasp. I could understand mistaking it while in a rush to post. But to get it wrong, then actively defend it as people are putting it in terms that a four year old could understand.
