That sucks Joe, im sorry to hear youre going through this kinda crap. Earlier this year my debit card got flagged by the RCMP for being on some list of mass-stolen numbers and my card was cut off. Luckily my credit union cut it off before anything got jacked and I just needed to have a new card issued.
Frauds crazy these days... |

so I just got back from the bank. The lady seemed to have already known why I was at her counter... Apparently these criminals have hit HARD over the course of this weekend and on through. Alot of victims out there. Some of them haven't even found out yet. Best thing to do is change you pin number at the moment to prevent on getting hit

Wow, it's an epidemic! This thread makes me glad I checked my bank account earlier today, and found nothing amiss.
I have too much money in there.. :wondering: Maybe I'll switch to a maximum daily withdrawl.. Jeff do you know if that affects interac purchases as well? Quote:

The only bigger thing I need on a regular basis is rent, and I'll just tke it out between two accounts. Big purchases go on credit cards. Christmas shopping I just try to do over a couple days. I don't see why people wouldn't have daily limits of some sort (whether or not you consider mine too low or not). |

This has happened to soo many people around me (co-workers/customers/family/friends) in the last 2 months. It can happen while using debit at any store (which the machine has been tampered with) as well.
Very scarey. As far as it effecting your credit - If you have payments that bounce, you can ask your bank to write a letter explaining the situation and forward it to the credit bureau as well as the company's in which your payment bounced. The insurance for both of my car's bounced once (a day apart) due to a bank error and it was messy. The insurance company told me I had to pay my full years insurance right then and there and that I would never be able to do payments.. I had a bank manager write a letter to clear it up. Everything was fine after that =D GOOD LUCK! |

my business partner got her business bank account frauded aswell,
we both bank through TD Canada Trust. They flagged her card and put a limit on the withdrawals. 100$ was taken out at a mall in Ontario on Sunday. We suspect it was the pay at the pump on Davie and Burrard, or Welk's on Main Street. they were the last places that it was used at that would be suspicious. the cash has already been put back into the account, and a new card has been issued and all pins for secondary cards on that account have been changed. |

Update!:
So my money is back in my account. I called TD to find out what happened. But they will be sending me documentations as to what they found out. They told me however that multiple transactions took place in the same area with various other cards. |

yeah this happened to me recently too. took TD 2 weeks to pay me back even tho it was clearly their fault in issuing someone pretending to be me a whole new access card. id theft is scary.
tip for everyone: have a daily max withdraw limit on your account. that way some sketchy asshole wont be able to clean you out and leave you hangin' while the bank takes ages to do an internal investigation. if you need to withdraw more than your daily limit it just takes a quick phone call. ps. I'm starting to hate TD |

seriously b0ld, you attract drama. if there were a rash of man rapes going on at a skytrain station, you would stand at the station with your pants around your ankles waiting for something to happen just so you had your next fnk post. |

So I'd stay clear of your statement because getting my money back was 1 thing. Now there is a bunch of shit that has been evident as to what I need to do. Not the smooth sailing ride you assumed and others have told me. |

your bank must hate you. most people get overdraft for a few weeks and dont have to fill anything out or notify anyone.
maybe these things dont seem like such a big deal to me because they are regular practice. i check my credit score every few months, i dont carry large balances in the account attached to my card, and i dont use shady atms. ps - you still revel in the drama, if you didnt fnk wouldnt hear about it. |
|

Avana, if u know so much about banking, that you should know that getting an ovedraft may take up to a week, depending the bank's work load, it would be same process as applying for a loan, which requires application, credit check, appointment for finalizing the documents, and AFTER above are done, the overdraft will get attached. i can't see how b0ld is creating drama here. sorry to admit, but if anything, i'd say u're the one who is creating drama... refer to page 1.

my bank did it for me on the spot this weekend w/out a credit check, and w/out doing paperwork. i made a phone call to online banking, and everything was increased on the spot. a temporary overdraft due to extenuating circumstances is not unusual. and as several of the people have already said in this thread, one phone call to their institution, and their banks have been more than accomodating. i really am having a hard time understanding how you got your job. |

then they tried to up my visa to a insane amount and increase my LOC and increase my overdraft. it was nice to say no lol... but i was happy with the banks service. bold i wonder why you went through such a hassel and with me it was easy peasy japanesey with a phone call and a new pin number? |
