now i know matthews is abit full of gas but did stewart kinda go over the line here?

matthews didnt even get a chance to talk about the book,stewart rips him right away and just dosent stop.

i dont know what to make of it. i agree with what stewart says kinda, but also think he acted out of line.....

so...john stewart why you gotta be such a asshole?

i feel odd about saying it but props for matthews at the end just stickin back too him. one thing is for certain, this is one of the best clips thats come out of the show in the last little while....

*and sorry for spelling your name wrong in my thread title.I know your reading this.dont cry about it.

^yeah that was a insanely huge viral and from what i read on the blogs helped to jumpstart the demise of crossfire.*even then john steward was out of line with the "your a bigger dick" comment...

a show wich i actually miss cause it was so absurd.

matthews is invited on the show to pitch the book, but stewart seems to let his personal politics take over and skewers him non-stop.Thats funny and all but, what he really should of done was poke a little bit at matthews to warm him up and accept his invitation to HARDBALL and then really rip into him on his own show infront of his own veiwers...

but,matthews did do that little height comparison bit right at the start wich was kinda cheeky, you could tell stewart wasnt impressed with that...

Just rewatched that video today. What bugs me most is that it takes an ad hominem attack before he says "Now you're getting the hang of it!"

Jesus, if ad hominems are this show's idea of spirited debate no wonder they got cancelled.

Was that last night with the guy who wrote the book about politicizing daily life? Yeh he did give him a pretty hard time but some of the main premises the guy had in his book sounded ridiculous and he wasn't articulate enough to push his opinion back against John's. John was a bit harsh by not easing up at the end when the guy was already down.

but i've seen way worse from both Stewart and Colbert. I remember when Colbert tore this guy a new one because he said Internet was destroying culture.

It's a comedy show, not a discourse show. That was the exact point Stewart was making on Crossfire.

Christ, I remember Jon Stewart got his start by bringing uppity neocons on his show and making fun of them without them even knowing it. Every other episode was like that.

Then eventually everybody wised up to it (I think it was around when Colbert did his speech at the White House) and the neocons stopped going on Daily Show, so now he has to stick to authors.
