Working with kids/teenagers on a weekly basis... VERY rarely do I feel pressured to having them. By the way I also work with a lot of older moms who have many birth horror stories. For some reason they seem to laugh about :S

by no means, as a woman, do i feel the need to procreate because i "running out of time". if i want babies, and there is no one that i want to share that experience with, then i would consider alternate means. it it doesnt happen for other reasons, then so be it.

quite possibly the most chauvinistic thing i have ever seen you post john.

Just because you dont carry the baby for 9 months doesn't mean your off the hook. Men do contribute to pregnancy.

Not only do they think that FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome) can be transfered by sperm, but studies are also finding a link with older fathers and their children having autism. No proof yet, but men shouldn't be so sure of them selfs... you could be under just as much pressure.

avana i didnt really mean it like that. you know im not a chauvinistic type of guy by any means,....so why would you take it as such?

perhaps i should of worded it a little different cause so much is lost on a forum and people can take things the wrong way....but,the comment stands.

as i said, it makes sense for a woman to want to have babies sooner rather then later. due to the ticking of the biological time...dont be mad at me. be mad at god.

i think that you are out in left field. especially with the average age that women are now waiting to have children. most women are waiting for their 30's to have their first child. that doesnt seem like a rush to me.

the average age that women hit menopause is 51. god gave us more than enough time if we treat our baby makers and our bodies right.

i blame you for sticking both of your feet in your mouth.

The problem isnt menopauses though. Its birth complications. After a women reaches 30-35 the chances of the child having XXY (downs syndrome) rapidly increases by about 30% and continues to rise as she gets older.

My point to Revolver was that studies are now finding that ALSO older men who conceive (with any age women) may indeed increase the chances of his child having autism.

Ideally both male and females are healthiest for makeing babies in their teens and 20's.

i dont think its chauvinestic at all, the reality is its alot more difficult for a woman to get pregnant after 35. Its biological fact there is no chauvenism about it, you quite literally are running out of time.

its a pretty hard life being a single parent or being a kid with only a mom, why would you choose that?

I agree, women now adays should wait till later to have children. that way they can learn how to properly cook and clean and iron their man's shirts...

agree?

i agree that there is an ideal age baby maker wise to have a child. i have family that recently adopted a 2 y/o because she had tried several times to conceive and couldnt due to her age.

being a single parent is hard. my mom was a single parent since i was two, my father has been absentee all my life. in no way, do i feel like i missed out on something or that i was lacking a male influence. my mother played both roles, and when i did need a fatherly male influence, my uncles and other relatives did just fine. if she can do it, so can i. i just get to make that decision with my eyes open, and am not having the responsibility dumped in my lap.

ps - this is also 10 years from now if i start to freak out that my eggs be all shriveled and i dont want to share that experience with someone else.

i get that, but to say women are under pressure is a gross generalization. i dont feel any time crunch, and am quite happy with my life as is. seriously, could you see me lugging around a baby bjorn at apex?
