ipods...
I am probably the last person on earth to even THINK about wanting an ipod. The ONLY place I would ever use it is for travel on planes/trains (when not in my car) or working out/running.
Ideally I guess the ipod shuffle makes sense. Im not interested in movies or videos yet... or will this soon be sociably mandatory on all mobile music devices... therefor I should up grade. Anyways I just wanted to ask what those who own or hear about it think? |

^Try getting a normal phone with out the fancy camera, colour screen, and web surfing etc. I originally wanted to go for the ipod nano, but now it has the video thing added onto it... more expensive and complicated. I just dont like how the shuffle doesnt have a visual screen to search for music.

wellbeleove trust me when i tell you...
get a new nano. your just going to have to deal with a whole new sleeker design, more capacity (8g), beutiful video display, and photo playback. and you can even chose a custom color that you like...too! and they are really cheap now for what you get. ipods are a godesend. please get a nano and just be done with it. lol... |

I got a refurb. ipod nano off of the website for an extremely reasonable price..you can get a 4gb nano for $105 off of there now!
here's the link The Apple Store (Canada) - Refurbished iPod I should add these are refurbished to Apple standards and come with a full warranty...also buying off the Apple website means no shipping costs! I got mine within like 4 days of ordering it too. |

Why let peer pressure come to you when you can go out and find it yourself? Seriously though, are you worried about becoming some sort of social outcast for owning an iPod without video? If you're not interested in paying for a newer Nano, you can always buy an older one (which can play video too by the way, just need the software).. or you could buy a *gasp* non-apple mp3 player with or without video for significantly less. What I find funny that nobody picked up on was that a DJ said they are "the last person on earth to even THINK about wanting an ipod"... |

So over iPods now.
Had 3, two broke just out of warranty and one was lost. Not interested in them anymore really. Other options that seem to last longer given the anecdotal evidence I've seen. Not to mention having one that just mounts as a block device (instead of having to use iTunes or some third-party crack software) and doesn't need silly install disks just to get music on your player. |

This is one annoying thread or maybe some of you just dont understand the way I put things...
Jim - Why are you recommending me to up grade higher? You know me, I dont like getting more than what I NEED or in this case USE. I couldnt last watching a movie on yours for over 5 minutes on the plane. Ok maybe the movie was dull, but I preferred to read a magazine!?! But you do bring up a good point with how many more songs it holds. Revolver - Again I JUST NEED it for planes and working out when alone (which is rare) By the way the shuffle comes in custom colours too. meth0dical - Ninja boy told you best Gusto - True I could get an adapter for my car, but you have no idea how many cd's I have to go through when driving. Plus I would hate to leave it in my car and risk it getting stolen. I forgive you for the "cant play records" I would of said something like that myself for a cheep laugh. Taddy_Bare - Sure I dont have to use it, but why pay extra for something your not going to use AND why have some fancy extras when they just add on to more possible things to break. Billy Shears - Moron, maybe as a DJ I already have a crazy system set up with a variety of mediums to play with. I also drive in a car with a cd player. Not to mention all my mp3s on my comp and I work in an environment that requires me to listen and socialize. Can you think of a time when I would ever need an ipod? And I think you miss understood what I ment by "sociably mandatory". IOW I dont want to be one of those fools who buys something and then finds out that 2 months later its out of date. I dont care what ppl think, but I do fear that the technology I buy wont keep up. I have yet to hear anything "bad" or "good" about the shuffle? Sorry maybe I should of called the topic 'Shuffle'. Thank you to those who understood my concern with NEED and what I would USE. No its not a big extra in price ($80) but like I keep telling you ppl... im not interested in videos and pics... Why would I pay for it when Im not going to use it? Not to mention wouldn't a shuffle be so much more easy to bring around with me? And if I ever lost it or broke like I keep hearing... It wouldnt be such a big replacement cost. Last edited by R Wellbelove; Oct 18, 07 at 10:38 PM. |

I have a creative zen micro, 2 years old, and it suits me well. nothing crazy, just music, and doesn't require itunes. I have had to send it in to have the hold button fixed, but from what I read it is not a common flaw.
Maybe check out their stuff. Creative Worldwide - Sound Blaster, MP3 Players, Speakers, Web Cameras and more. No info on the shuffle, sorry. ps: after checking their site to find the link I came across the new Zen, and now I want one. It has all the snazzy features....so maybe i'm not the guy to listen to! |
