this clip shows it a little better.
YouTube - STUDENT TASERED FOR ASKING SEN KERRY ABOUT VOTER SUPPRESSION this might be the first time I've ever shared a common view with Tucker Carlson. seriously those cops should all be driven out to a field in the middle of no where for a good shit kicking. |

I doubt it was just some cops saying "hey this may be a risky question" and decided to stop him. I bet that they had been briefed about things to crack down on, or had earpieces in or something.

-The student was getting a little out of hand and aggressive with the way he was talking to Kerry. If I was a cop I would be weary of the situation as the way the student began to wave his book around and raise his voice. HOWEVER he should of been warned first before being taken away. - The student than acted out on the police by trying to get away. As soon as you resist the police that causes reason for them to act on you. I understand he was angry and confused about the situation, but you should always co-operate with the cops. If you feel violated, than take it to court after, but dont give them more reason to arrest you. -The student was WARNED that he would be tasered if he did not co-operate with police. I dont think this was necessary at all as you are dealing with a student most likely un-armed. Can half a dozen cops not control him? Yeah thats pretty pathetic on the cops side. BUT again... if you do not co-operate with the cops that just gives them more reason to use more force. Last edited by R Wellbelove; Oct 21, 07 at 09:02 PM. |

These forums are just spectacles not a public sphere where you can ask those sorts of questions. It's sad but he just makes himself look like a quack and the newscasters in the second clip are laughing about it. Unfortunately in that political environment, down in the US, their is no room for real discourse. It has all been replaced by marketing rhetoric and political spectacle.
If he really wanted to make a statement he should have condensed his argument down and then watched Kerry stutter. That way he adds to the discourse instead of just being tasered. He was all over the place and being aggressive then resisted the cops. So then you have two reactions, some people think his rights were violated and some say he's a nut. His point is lost from influencing others, who wouldn't generally agree with his view, because he lost his composure. I agree that we should be allowed to have open discussion in a public sphere without being restrained like that but he has to work in the environment that he's in. He could have used that podium much wiser. In essence, he reduces himself to the very spectacle that he is watching. Now all i can think of is his him karate chopping the cops in that Game preview Jim posted above. Last edited by decypher; Oct 21, 07 at 07:10 PM. |
