First boil then pan fry with sauerkraut and garlic/farmer sausage... big ole dollop of sour cream and dig in.
My grandma used to make homemade perogies for xmas dinner all the time. Fantastic stuff. BBQ perogies? I can hear dead Ukrainians rolling in their graves all around the world at this very moment! hahaha |

i like mine with carmelized onions and a little bit of peas (and bacon if you eat meat) with a big pile of sour cream on top. saurkraut cooked with some annise on the side! i haven't had good perogies for a few years. did you know it's almost impossible to find perogies in the US? the ones i did find were terrible! almost none of my friends had even heard of perogies. |

and boiling is perfectly fine. same with fat free sour cream... once you start eating healthy, it actually tastes gross eating things fried.. and you get really sick after. Just about training your body and taste buds :-) my girl friend nearly had a heart attack when I told her my room mate fries them in olive oil. lol |

hmmmmmm my family is also Ukranian and I get smacked if I call them perogies. Called (don't know spelling) ped-a-hey. Heard a lot of other ukranians say the same thing and my girlfriend is from Russia and she said that's what she calls them also.

^stranglely not in Wikipedia... maybe I skimmed too quickly. but i've heard a lot of ukranian's call them that... my family.. friends and their family... also several ukranian and also russian staff i've had work for me over the years.
the province I come from(alberta) 1 in 7 people claim to be ukranian to census canada... which means even more are of ukranian descent because I wouldn't make that claim not speaking more than a handful of words... and i've heard it said countless times by countless people |
