Some but not all... on Xbox.com | Xbox.com Home there is a list of the games that are currently backwards compatible.
Keep in mind that the list is constantly being updated with new titles that can be played.

^Not true... they never promised full backwards compatibility. They wanted to make the best next gen system they could (which they did IMO) and if some games could be made compatible then great. I mean if you want to play Xbox games then keep your Xbox.
