Photosynth
Imagine a "3D" space created by shared images of the area in question, i really don't know how to express the vastness of such an application.
take a look for yourself demo video - TED | Talks | Blaise Aguera y Arcas: Jaw-dropping Photosynth demo (video) trial version - Microsoft Live Labs: Photosynth |

point 1: this is basically digital microphysh. (point 2) combined with an old movie that i saw a long time ago. can't remember the name or story line, but basically this guy had a program who could digitally program hundreds of pictures of an elaborate house made of cards into a computer and create a 3d model of it. But this is like... 100 times bigger and fully developed into the real thing!

uhh... seriously?
dude, imagine 3d images of beaches in the carribean or lightning storms in the mid-east... this is a huge thing if we can find out just how much we all have in common... The paranoia of spying is probably from creative directors in modern day media... but who knows... |

oh for sure it can
new technology is exciting because it's full of potential i'm just dealing with my own personal love/hate relationship with facebook atm so that was the first thing that came to mind |

if i were to bounce on your couch like tom did on oprah's, you'd think i was a douche. And it would be for exactly the same reason as oprah (and the rest of the world [except you]) thought that tom is actually a douche for. (And that would be bouncing on a couch like a ... douche... on open television)

of course it has potential to do good, but call me jaded, and i blame my current soci. prof. and other education, but everyone in power, alright 9/10, maybe more like 8, is out to fuck us over. Commas out the ying yang. Like facebook, when i see things like this the first thing i seem to think is how it can be used for "security" measures, or marketing, both things which are helpful when not abused. I miss ignorance. |

what they did with the cathedral is insane. the zooming feature that they showed earlier in the video is a little unrealistic though. i mean with text it'd be fine but if its with an actual image and you're wanting to zoom in that much you'd need such a high resolution picture. one of the images they said was 300 megapixels. compare that to the usual 4.5 megapixel image you would normally take with a camera

This technology has greater implications, since it's in its infancy stage. Unfortunately, most of us can't afford the new 3D technology devices that could be used to add character to this software invention. I think that by using a blue box by Phillip's WOWVX and then decoding the 3D image on screen would provide a realistic 3D experience. It's amazing that they weren't using 3D screens to present this, thus meaning that Microsoft is buying into and developing that technology. Instead, I saw them using a high quality 2D projector lens to show 3D content. Why bother, unless Microsoft is looking to dominate the market? |

aside from the profiling and educational aspects of such a tool, think of the possibilities for games. in theory, the world could be digitally mapped (3D), and transferred directly onto a wireframe model. ... the matrix is coming people. |
