_(place title here)_? in high school i used to play pool (8ball and 9ball mainly) and there used to be 15 or more good pool halls. and only a half dozen with a good vibe. So many pool halls have closed in recent years and it makes me wonder why don't people play anymore?

I've been thinking about taking my cue out of retirement though.

Q-Zone in Burnaby had the best kept tables when I used to play, the Comox down in the Westend has some decent tables for a pub.

Commodore lanes has a lot of tables, but a majority of them are beat to hell.

i used to play religiously but I barely manage to get to a hall once a year nowadays.

I noticed that Guys & Dolls is for sale which is a shame... that was one of the last bastions for serious players (along with commodore) in the downtown area... most places have shit tables in shit conditions with shit layouts...

i still love pool. i play every week probably. i used to play for money haha i always get a kick out of hustlin people. i would play with a japanese kid that could just clean racks like no tomorrow .. good times. the best is showin up at pubs sober as a judge and takin all the drunk cocky people's money or pitchers.

the question is where are the golfers!!!! dman people my age never play golf.

It's true. There are so few quality halls. And by quality i mean a good clientelle, groomed tables, good music and lighting that sets a good atmosphere. I really like the old school pool halls like the former Pool Yard Cafe and Cues (on broadway). I used to go to Hot Shots all the time in highschool and now it's a snooker hall. Now a days I'll go to the Cue Club (formerly starlite) and Q-zone (near netaholics in richmond).

But in terms of pool halls that serve beer as well... God. There's only 3 places i know of (Commodore, and those two places in/near yaletown).

MAN, koreans now a days play this retarded pool game with no pockets! i don't know how it works fully... but you get like a cue ball, a red ball and a black ball? And you basically have to hit the other person's ball to score a point. But the catch is, you have to bank the cue off 2 walls (or more?) first for the point to count.

Has anyone seen what i'm talking about?

I play lots

I like Comox, it only has 3 tables but they take care of them. Plus Jerry the bartender loves us.

I also do Soho on Drake and Hamilton, used to go to JHSS with one of the girls that works there.
Lots of tables and they're taken care of.

I go to Commodore sometimes, When there's nothing to do at plaza.


I am sooooooooooo down to go shoot some pool, 8 or 9.

I hate playing anywhere. People annoy me mainly. Clubs are horrible to play at *IMO*. And a lot of pool halls I find always seem to have something that is just too annoying to go back.
Summer time, my garage, beers & bbq, and Im all set!

3 cushion billiards. Very old game and very difficult to master. My personal best is 2 in a row and that was probably luck more than anything else. You need fast cloth to play it properly
