Drunk Tattoo artist in town... Beware!
So I have been scouting off and on for a while since I plan on getting some work done. Checking out various artists and there shop's... reputations etc... So I decided to stop by Thomas Lockhart's shop "West Coast Tattoo" on davie street... As I was looking around through the shop some guy comes in with his friend who made a design for him to get it done. Thomas agreed to do that tattoo, but really didn't give a flying fuck about anything, infact his speech was all slurred. Before he started he took out a few beers for himself as well as the guy who was getting the tattoo... Which now explains alot. Something seemed also wrong with the sound of the tattoo gun. Seemed alot louder then normal. I've talked with some tattoo artists as well and they said that given if the tattoo gun sounds louder then normal then that clearly means that either there is something wrong with the gun or its not set properly... Anyways before I left that place it seems like thomas was having a hard time. Literally told the guy to "KEEP STILL" when he wasn't moving at all.. poor bastards arm is probably all shredded by now.
Anyways this was a big turn off after witnessing this. And I thought I would share with you guys, just incase if you plan on getting some work done or know of anyone who plans on getting anything done. Avoid this shop at all costs! |

^Way to generalize! I happen to love my tattoos and think they are far from sub-par. I mean if you're talking about every Joe Blow who goes into a shop and picks out a piece of flash then fine, but if thought went into a personalized piece then it most likely has some significance to the bearer.
My next piece is gonna be hell of expensive and a stunning piece of work. It's going to combine two different styles. It's a portrait style piece of my son from my wedding all decked out in a fedora and sunglasses and where the portrait meets his neck line it'll blend into color (from black/grey to blue, the color of his tie) and form a curtain almost of melted wax style design into his name done out in full colour graffiti with the melted effect over the letters. SO EXCITED FOR IT |

Still looking... it's such an intricate piece that I want to make sure I go to the best possible. I was accepted as a submission for Darren and Kat Von D on Miami Ink sometime ago but the cost was just too much. You have to pay for the trip, the work, everything. 10 grand just wasn't in the coffers!

Wow yea that is expensive, they are amazing artists, but that never comes cheap.
Look in to Carlos at Steel Temple, he does amazing work, and does portraits. He did a awesome piece for me, did it with a very basic outline, didnt even look like doves when he drew it on me, but when he started going he did fantastic work. On the pricey side, but you get what you pay for! I cant seem to find a pic except from when it was first done Last edited by PwInCeSs; Dec 30, 07 at 04:33 PM. |

West coast tattoo is a shit place.
Those guys are freakin retarded, i've talked to a few of them. Extremely unprofessional. I cant wait till they close down. I *HIGHLY* suggest checking out liquid amber tattoo on burrard and davie, next to boomtown. I've gotten both my tattoo's done there and will continue going there for more. Talk to a guy named Jeremy, he did my hammerhead. |
