With how isolated our contry is and or lack of need to learn another language (except maybe spanish) many opt not to learn another language. The world's language right now is English, so if you speak english and you do not border 5 other countries with different languages what is the point to your average American/Canadian? People learn when necessity calls for it and right now in Canada and the US it is not necessary. The rest of the world learns their language then English so they can interact with our government.

Don't remember making fun of em. I speak Cantonese. I understand the issue that you were trying to bring up, the fact that some of the kids are having trouble adapting or learning the English language. But I found your statement very derogatory.
