Tank Abbott went down like a sack of hammers for sure. I've never seen him go down that hard before. As I said before Abbott is well past his glory days so I don't know if this was a test for Kimbo so much as his launch into the spotlight. All I know for sure is that he is one mean son of a bitch!

Wow,
Kimbo being down on the scorecard 10-9 for two rounds, gets a questionable stoppage against a hand picked C level tomato can with a known weak chin. Grim (another of Elitexc's c level fighters) ruined Thompson in his last fight and Kimbo couldn't finish him. If you can barely roll with C level fighters, time to go back to youtube.

^The scorecard wasn't really reflective of the fight. Kimbo was taken down twice, and Thompson wasn't doing any damage on either occasion.
While I do agree that on paper, Kimbo should have ended this in the first round, I now believe that he's a much better fighter than in his internet days. An old Kimbo would have been completely gassed coming out in the second round, rather than partially gassed and able to finish the fight. Questionable stoppage yes, but Thompson was finished.

Well,
While agree he's a much much better fighter then he was on youtube. He's just couldn't roll with any body in top 100 HW's or LHW's in MMA. People who don't know MMA think he's the baddest guy on the planet, while other guys who are 10 times better then him get shoved on under cards. I think Thompson was probably on his way out, but he looked that way in the second round too, and he managed to take Kimbo down right after, so who knows.

top 100? don't exaggerate. Can you even name 100 pro heavyweights?
He's only on his 3rd pro fight, he's got KO power, the killer instinct in spades, what appears to be focus and dedication to the sport, and what appears to be quite a bit of heart. No one's saying he'll be beating champions (or even former champions) anytime soon and he has a lot to learn (BJJ, wrestling, and cardio especially) but he's got tons of potential. Granted he probably shouldn't be learning the ropes on a national stage, but that's hardly his fault. Besides, he's also got that whole rags to riches thing which americans seems to be suckers for and quite a lot of natural charisma to boot. Once he gets himself a decent sprawl, a better BJJ defensive game, and a better cardio regimen, he could definitely cause problems for some guys in the future.

Heh, well I could probably land somewhere in the 40's, but It would take me awhile. ^^;
He's definitely improving, with his athleticism and Bas Rutten as a coach it's hard not too; it just annoys me the amount of hype he gets when really he's a very low tier fighter who's being coddled and presented as the face of mma. I don't hear Kimbo claiming that he's the best, it's just mostly Gary Shaw and his marketing.
