Good long distance cell plans from Telus

Im lookin to get a new phone and plan with good long distance.

this is my plan:
phone to phone 20 $20
30 cents per minute
100 min include airtime
247 min free airtime
15 cents per sms text message
web: goto sites $0.10 per page
partner sites $0.05 per page
about 2 percent for late charges
value added services:
ext. unlimited weekends and nights: $7
unlimited local MTM: free
VoiceMail 10 and caller ID: free
Enhanced 911: $0.50
System access fee: $6.95 <= wtf?

as long as i barely use the phone i get a low bill.
the above package basically costs c. $35 then.

i am really considering getting rid of internet.

It depends where you want to call. Within Canada Rogers has the my5 plan and you can add Canada-wide long distance for $5 per month. That makes sense if you're calling the same numbers all the time. Otherwise, buy phone cards. They're by far the best way to go. I use Bravo phone cards and have their local number as one of my5 numbers - 2222 minutes for $20.

There isn't much you can get in the way of LD with a cell phone; I'd second the recommendation of a calling card. You can always program in the calling card's tel# & pin into your phone for one-button dialing before LD calls.

Thanks Galaxie. There are only a couple of numbers that I need the long distance for but I call them all the time. I may have to make the switch back to Rogers

I know that Telus has a My Faves plan or whatever these days. I don't know if it includes long distance, but you could definitely look into it!

why not just get a calling card like i do?
i paid $5 for the one i have now and i got well over 600 canada to US minutes.

with a card like that you don't need a plan!

ok mine doesn't really have a name.
it just says "canada phone card" next to the value of the card on the front and on the back it just gives you instructions on how to use it.

^ Yeah, so is mine. 2222 minutes for $20, there are no service fees either. You have to be careful of the service fees because sometimes they will charge you like $0.25-$0.50 per call.
