cop causes car accident

so the cops had a speed trap set up on the north side of the oak street bridge in the south bound lanes today. I'm stopped in traffic on the other side of the road when I watch the cop walk out in the middle of rush hour traffic to flag down a speeding car. the only problem is that when buddy slams his brakes to try and not run over the cop the car behind him rears end him. stupid fucking cop was the only problem I could see.

Regardless they gotta keep there space.

thanks tips! obviously this is true but you're completely ignoring that the cops caused a car accident. if he hadn't jumped in front of rush hour traffic the accident wouldn't have happened.

further to this...
cops are trained to do things like speed traps with due care and attention. i have heard more than once, that cops are trained to tell what speed a car is coming at them at (though i think it is bullshit) they should have the foresight to look and see what the traffic behind the first car was doing.

in short it's possible to safely stop a vehicle. and for people playing the "they shouldn't have been tailgating card" have you ever driven in rush hour traffic in Vancouver? if you leave enough room in front of you for a car then someone will move into it.

Why do I have to be a driver to know that speeding is extremely dangerous? Seriously, saying that is almost so stupid it makes me forget you used the word gay out of context like you're some ignant highschooler. I have been in FOUR car accidents, with three of them being caused by careless speeding, how about you?

Because going the speed limit in most of Greater Vancouver is more dangerous than speeding to go with the flow of traffic. Ever driven down Granville going North at 8am on a week day? If you're going 50km/h someone's going to slam into you. IMO, excessive speed is fucking stupid, 10-15km/h over the speed limit is reasonable - the people who cause accidents are: a. not paying attention, b. weaving in-and-out of traffic, c. running lights, d. not shoulder-checking, etc. Going in a straight line at 60km/h vs 50km/h is not much of a difference!

Personally, I've been in three accidents, none my fault. One idiot rear-ended me while I was stopped at a light (NOT PAYING ATTENTION), another idiot turned left in front of me as I was going through a light (NOT PAYING ATTENTION, AGAIN!), and the final idiot opened their car door as I was driving past and damaged my mirror (STILL NOT PAYING ATTENTION).

Yeah, those cops who are running out into traffic aren't necessarily nabbing excessive speeders. A few years ago on Marine Drive I got nailed for going 62km/h and STILL almost hit the stupid cop who ran out in front of me!

Until you hit a chunk of debris and spin out of control. I've seen it happen - it's pretty hard to regain control of a vehicle once it's gone out of control at that speed.

On a side note though, this story reminds me about some story I learned in 9th grade english. For the sake of simplicity, I'll skip the story and just give you an idea and say if you blame the cop for the accident, it means the most important thing for you in life is power, if you blame the first driver the most important thing for you is love, and if you blame the second driver the most important thing for you is money.

Though I generally agree with Myra...but the people that make speeding dangerous are the ones that conduct it in an oblivious manner...contrary to popular belief there is such a thing as safe speeding.
